    Crankset grinding noise?

So today I was just casually riding around on my new bike and was about 5 miles from my house and it started raining, at the same time my pedal started to get loose. So in the pouring rain I got to a lowes and asked to borrow a tool to tighten up the pedal and did, but when I got home I noticed there was this type of grinding noise coming from the crankset, is it possible to have over tightened it or something? It's a new DiamondBack Overdrive 29er

Is your front derailleur rubbing the chain or chainring?

weird, shouldn't be happening. At least not from tightening a pedal.

I'd bring it back to your LBS and get them to check it out... May be a warranty issue.

Since it is new, take it back to the service guys where you bought it when you have time to hang out and watch them due the maintenance. Sounds like it will be worth knowing.

Try slipping the chain off of the front chain rings and give the cranks a spin without the chain on just to make sure the noise is coming from the BB. Sometimes a chain can make quite a bit of noise when it is wet, depending on what type of chain lube you are using.

make sure your crank arm isn't loose as it can trash your cranks quickly riding on it.
