Cateye Astrale 8 on my Giant XTC

I swapped over my Cateye Astrale 8 to my Giant XTC1. It worked flawlessly on my Trek 26". I've gotten the crank indicator to work for cadence but I can't get the speed to work. They are lined up but no reading. I looked the instructions up online but it says the distance should be under 5 mm between the sensor and the pickup. Not sure if it should have been 5 cm as there is no way that could be that close. Don't know what it wrong. Any suggestions?

    I'd go with 5mm.

It might be pretty tough to get it down to 5 mm. I have the stock wheelset and the spokes are centered for the most part and the disc brake keeps you from getting close to the hub.

I got it to work. Had to make some shims out of some rubber to push it closer.
