I bought a Trail SL4 29er this past July and like it, but would like something a little better. I don't really want to purchase a whole new bike or to sell this one. I'm in college and want to try to put most of my money towards that, eventually I'll probably buy a FS, but that's a few years off. I'm just wondering if it would be worth it in the meantime to upgrade my SL4 or if it would be better to not spend any more money on this bike?
Thanks
All things being equal, I'd say to ride the bike for all it's worth and not give any thought to replacing what isnt broken. Way too much focus on futzing around with new piece parts, hoping they'll make us better riders. Ugh...
well I don't expect better brakes or a new fork to make me a better rider, but I do think it could make riding a bit more fun. thanks for the concern though sheriff
I just bought the same bike a couple weeks ago and love it! I'll ride till stuff breaks or just plain wears out then upgrade those parts. Other than that I plan to do just a few cheap cosmetic changes. And put a set of clipless pedals on it as well. And some new grips.
thats true. I just figure a not bouncing around as much with the pogo stick I have would be nice. and my brakes are just so poorly made that they are difficult to tune and keep tuned. they still stop me, but theyre a hassle.
My friend just bought a 29 sl 4, and it is pretty solid. He had a hel come out of true after a month, that may be a good upgrade.
