I second that, more shots of this one.

Dugast tubulars make any machine awesome, to look at anyway since gluing tubulars is mental torture. How much do those tires cost btw?

The problem with pixetraush's bike is that it looks so good, I would never be able to bring myself to ride it. Thank God my bikes are more average!

How is the front end steering on that bike? Is it floppy at all? Any idea of what the trail figure is with that 140mm fork and that 67 degree head tube angle??

I wouldn't say i've noticed any floppiness at all, though slacker angles are more what i am used to. I have a 6" fs 26er that probably has about 67 or so HA too, and is my closest comparable bike. I just finished a ride with lots of slow, rooty, twisty sections up and down rolling hills. Handled it better than anything i have ever ridden before. It definitely shines when it opens up a bit though, and in the corners. I love the rolling stability of the big wheels, and havn't noticed any of the negative handling traits that i hear people whining about when the talk about 29ers. I've never had so much fun on a hardtail.

is that a single speed with a hammerschmidt upfront? I've been thinking about that setup for a while now. I want to go either 1x10 or 2x1 like yours.

How do you like the setup?

So sad that this 3.5 pound frame comes in at 28.25 lbs, but I'm gonna ride it stock til it breaks (or until the seat gets the better of me).

I just got into mountain biking. Decided to go with a 29er. I might do 2-3 things to the bike if I get hooked to mountain biking. Possibly buy a better mountain bike after a year or two.

    my ride

Here's my bike: Fisher X-Cal, stock, with look pedals. Geometry is amazing, even with the big wheels it's more agile than any other MTBs I've owned since 1997! Everything works to my satisfaction so far except the saddle which is quite unconfortable. I got a defective fork when I bougth the bike, but fox sent me a new one for free! Upgrades in the future will be: a new saddle, and a king rear hub

You have a great eye, I never thought you could tell the make from these pics. The bell is because this is my commuter bike and well, some cyclists (mostly old people) get mad when you pass them without ringing. I only put the Lefty on because I had it for sale for 3 months and nobody wanted to pick it up for the price I had it on sale for (which was not unreasonable). It fits like a glove, I had 1mm of play between the headset cups and the braces. I had to fiddle a bit and cut the lower race so I wouldn't have to hammer it on the steerer. I could have used a lower stack headset, but why if it fits, right?

Just wondering because at almost 9" of exposed seatpost I thought I had a lot showing. Of course the swoopy top tube would tend to cause more exposed post. Great looking bike and color me jealous!

Dude, I like that paint job better than any of the Gary Fisher 29ers. That one came stock with a super solid part spec on it. Great bike.

In other news I destroyed my derailleur, 3 spokes, chain, punctured my tubeless on my regular 29er. So I will be riding this one until I get the funds to make the necessary repairs.

Made some changes since this photo.

Nokian Gazza Extreme 294 29x2.1 rear
    Revelate Tangle Bag
    Jandd "gas tank"
Mounted hand pump and bottle holder to fork

I think the Nokian rear will help more with grip, with are unseasonable warm winter we are getting a lot of freeze melt freeze going on.

I don't know what camera or setting you used, but that looks like a difference in auto white balance. If your camera allows it (most do), you could set the white balance manually so it's the same in a group of photos. Also, if your camera has a RAW mode, you can also easily adjust it in post as the color isn't fixed in RAW like it is with JPEG image files.

These were taken with a Nikon D700, 60mm f/2.8 and auto white balance...a staple of mine. I tend to pay less attention to white balance than it deserves and really ought to have a closer look at RAW too.

Got my new Jet 9 RDO from Hammerhead Bikes yesterday - on the 29th, how appropriate!

Although you see snow on the ground in the pics from a little storm this morning, it's supposed to be near 60 this weekend, so I can't wait to go for a ride!

Yes it handles similar to the soul, not as flickable but definitely faster on the fire tracks/rock gardens and roots. Love riding both of them. I just can't decide which is better! I don't have a go to bike, I spend 5mins before each ride just deciding which one to ride!

My New (to me) 2011 Anthem X3 29er

Picked up this 2011 Giant Anthem X3 29er. I am 99% this used to Slimphatty's 29er which he sold.

Mods so far = Easton ea70 Monkeybars, 90MM stem, and ODI grips.

Next up is going to be brakes and tubeless. I can't stand these Avid Elixer 3's. Did anyone see the article on the new 2013 SLX components? They look sweet and I may wait for them to come out before upgrading.

Found some old Jeep trails behind my neighborhood with some pretty cool creek action that I created a 2 mile loop out of. It works for the quick ride when I have too many family obligations, but I'd rather hit the real singletrack for 20+ mile rides around the local area.

2011 Giant Anthem X2 29er. Love the bike so far. I'm a heavier guy, and this suspension leverage ratio i feel works better with my weight than any other I have tried.

Stock except a few cockpit pieces and the american classic wheelset.

Weighed in at 25 pounds on my bathroom scale (which measures in .5# increments) so the weight is good enough for me.
