custom, local builder here in the Philippines

Had a fork built by him like 5 years ago. Does good work and it's great to see him expanding his portfolio to include 29ers.

C_Cub... how do you like the Geax? Thinking about getting myself a set for my Inbred after I wear out the Halo Choir Masters I got and they looked like they would do well in my area (high desert).

gregnash...I love them. I had the non-tubeless version 1st which are great. Then I tried the TNT version...word of caution hardest tires I've ever installed. I'll have to cut them off my stans rims. In the DFW area they work great.

Ok I have heard that before and they would be going on Flows. I heard that the TNT are a PITA to get mounted but the folding work just as well and are much easier. Think these or the AKA may be the ticket for light, good traction tire in my area.

I bought a Saguaro last week (standard non-tnt one) and it mounted on a Flow with no problems. Aired up and sealed really great. Weighed 700 grams which is pretty close to the 690 advertised. After stretching for 2 days at 40 psi it measured 2.2 but that is on a Flow so on an Arch it might be a smidge under size. It looks like it will be a great rear tire on my hardtail One9. lots of volume not only width but very tall and rounded. It did have those little mold whiskars sticking out of every knob and it took over an hour to rip them all off. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet. I bought a Wolverine for the front and that looks like a good tire for that application also.

The Singular is my training/do everything machine, and the Niner is for when I'm in a hurry. The Swift is just under 26lb, the Niner 21.2lb.

    2011 Rumblefish II

Got this as a bang around bike to compliment my single speed, had the 2010 model and the 2011 looks to have some nice improvements. To bad we have almost 3 feet of snow on top of our trail right not, might be a while until this gets properly broken in.

Swap a few parts that I had from another bike, tubeless, 28 lbs is not so bad for this type of bike. Hopefully ride this a bit more than my last, that damn single speed is always is calling my name.

A poor, washed out pic of my '10 SE Stout, before I installed the 185mm BB7's in front.

I'm currently looking for a good, and inexpensive flat bar. May go with the Ritchey pro or comp. Other than that, it will probably be going 1x9 in the spring.

[QUOTE=jhardeman]Just built this up. New to me 2007 Turner Sultan. Moved all my parts from my On One Inbred. Plan to cut the fork once I have it dialed.

What Salsa bar do you have on that? Whats the width and sweep?
    Thanks

Here's a couple of bikes my brother just put together

The Yeti is a hoot to ride.

The Intense is just crazy; I've ridden speeds over rough stuff I've never accomplished before.

Nice to have him as my bro fo sho!

SKS Extra Dry Quick Release. I've had it for a few years. I need to find a good front mudguard now. I'm open to any suggestions.

Sks makes a 29er front shockblade. But from what I've seen, when it comes to this style of front fender, a 26 inch version works fine, I have a 26 inch shockboard on my 29er (pictured above) and it works fine.

Is this a 1X9....I am thinking 1x10 could be my race setup this coming season....but not sure if 32x36 is low enough for a we grind of a climb.....

A lot of 29er guys are single ring on the front.....really cool.

The 29er wheels make everything taller.....so I have my concerns. please tell me I will be strong enough to pedal a 1x9.

    cheers

Well it depends. Do you routinely use the smallest 2 cogs on the back with your 22 in front? A 32x36 is 25.8 gear inches a 22x26 (the 3rd smallest cog on an 11 or 12 34) is 25.4 gear inches. If you can get by without ever using the smallest 2 cogs then you will be good to go.

    It is 1x9, 32t chainring, 11-32t cassette.

I personally felt like the 32 in the rear was enough but its really personal, it kind of boils down to my riding style (not to toot my own horn but I'm just more of a power-type rider). I literally NEVER used my granny ring when it was there.

If i were doing 6+ hour endurance stuff I may consider for a cassette 34t large cog, maybe a 36 if someone made one that wasnt a boat anchor and didnt cost an arm an a leg, but a 32 has been manageable so far.

haha yes, they will go with my ano purple water cage . honestly though when i got the chain i though it was more a redish pink color and it would be close enough to the red hubs it would look passable at a distance but oh was i way off .

    Anthem

My new Amthem X1 (aussie spec)
Picked it up last weekend, only had a couple of rides, but I already Love it!
Im 6'6": and this is my first 29er and the difference for me from my old 26" anthem is amazing.

Currently stock, and apart from a stans kit it will stay that way for a while until I save the $$$ for a better wheelset. Any recomendations? Im 260lb.

And before the chorus of "you too big/heavy for an anthem" Ive ridden a 26anthem for the past 5 years with nothing more than a wheel rebuild with heavier spokes. With no problems.

Thought I'd share a couple of photos of my new 29er build.
    quite a simple build
On-One Scandal built up 1x9 with SRAM X9 and SLX Crankdet, Rockshox Recon Gold TK, Stans Rims with Superstar Switch Hubs. Comes in at 23.5 lbs.
Really happy with it and fully converted to the 29er hype!

Took the Scandal out earlier this evening on a 20 miler. It feels fantastic, rolls really well and is amazingly fast and responsive! Went flying past a roadie on a climb(!). He didn't look too pleased!.
Best thing about it for me is that the geometry is soooo good, loads of benefits and none of the perceived 29er disadvantages. I'd recommend a Scandal 29 er to anyone. £235 GBP is the bargain of the Century.
Previously I had a Genesis Singlespeed which was fun but i would always tend to grab my Heckler if there was the remote chance of any lumps in the trail. Part of the problem was that I bought a bike a little small for me. At the minute it looks like my Hecker might be playing second fiddle!

    Enjoy your inbred!

It's the stock 100mm but you can drop it down to 80mm by fitting the internal spacer.
Feel good at 100mm though do will leave it at that for a while. At least till the fork needs a service!

Here's me, Redline 460 29er (2008) with a reba xx remote lockout fork (100 mm), some avid bb7 brakes, and specialized saddle/pedals. I'm putting a set of stans flows onto it with hope pro II hubs, and schwalbe 29x2.35 big apples onto it this upcoming week, too... it's a road warrior.

    my kona hei hei 2-9

I've been building this bike up after a friend signed me up for the trans rockies this coming August. Seemed like a good excuse to make the switch to 29er. It's a 2009 Kona hei hei 2-9 deluxe with a rp3 rear shock and f29 100mm up front
Sram X0 shifters and rear derailleur
    XTR front derailleur
    XTR 11-34 cassette
race face deus cranks with 26-32-44 rings
    Eggbeater pedals
    Chris king bottom bracket
American classic 29er wheelset set up tubeless
    KCNC seatpost
SARS headset (I'll be changing that to a king later on)
    Avid juicy 7 brakes 160r 180f
    Easton ec70 bars 680 wide
    Ritchey 100mm WCS stem
    Ergon grips
    nokon cables w/ middleburn oilers
All together it came in at 26lbs on the dot. Now if it would just stop snowing I could actually go out and ride it.
