best deal on full suspension lowest price wins

My old but will not let me have a HT so I would like to get a full suspension however I spend as little as posible and have it be safe to ride on trails and work correctly. My size is xl or l 20"'ish frame. I can go used but new might be better?

Unless you fine someone local willing to let you ride theirs, no. Companies like Airborne, Motobecane and all the Bikes Direct brands can sell decently speced inexpensive bikes because they don't sell them through a LBS. If you want a test ride, after purchase support etc, you will need to spend a little more and buy locally.

    Try building from scratch.
    I'm building a 2009 GT Marathon 9er now...final cost projected about $1100.
    Flow DB wheelset,Shimano 9 speed or Sram X7 drivetrain 12-36 gearing,Recon Gold fork,RP23 shock,Welgo pedals,Race Face crank,KMC X9 chain,BB7/speed dial brakes,etc.
Not sure how the frame compares to the Spearfish or Hobgoblin, but it's prolly suited well for me as a Clyde rider. It's hard to do, but not impossible if you like building from scratch.I got the frame for 200 bucks,so that in itself is difficult. The Fish and Goblin are good deals...no doubt about that though.I like my RP23 shock and Flow wheelset a bit more though. At $1100 I didn't make out too shabby I'd say. Some say it's not possible to build custom from scratch cheaper than buying a whole bike, but I did it.
Dropped in a remote motion control circuit in the Recon too.

Wow - great deal on the spear

trance x4 likely second best and have seen local dealer discount it up to 15% - likely a bit more "versatile" all arounder

That is a KILLER deal on the Spearfish. Salsa makes amazing bikes too (says an owner of an El Mar and Mukluk ). Jump all over this!

I think universal said it was to match competitor's prices somewhere on the webpage. It also says it may be because the company doesn't honor coupons. It's written in red on the page.Plus it could be because it's a 2012 model year bike.Take a look.

    It's a rock bottom price item...and a pretty good one I suppose.

There are some cannondale scalpels around here for 1950.00 and giant anthems , specialized camber 29, scott. Actually lots around that pricepoint at a lbs and if you find a '12 you can get a better deal. 90-110mm travel xc . I think the entry fs29'er trail bikes run a couple hundred more.

What about Nishiki Adult Wasatch Mountain Bike 2013 it's only 499 and I test rode one and it was ok. It rode better than some of the norco's (rei brand) and some of the kona's I tested at lbs (rei brand) looks like a rip off of a sana cruse or what elce. Does any one have the 411 (who says 411 anymore) on this frame componinits suck but at 499 could up grade or sped the money somewhere elce.

Those options are indeed cheaper than the Spearfish.

Nishiki is good, I believe is made by diamondback, if you get it take it to bike shop first to adjust brakes and derailers. before you ride. s/b less than 40 bucks, then change pedals, seat etc. good frame
