Bang for the buck 29er frame

My current frame (Motobecane Fantom Pro 29er, XL) is too big for me and I am looking to get a decent quality hardtail frame to replace it. I am looking for something $300 or less ideally, but could be convinced to get something better if there were good reasons. I ride XC with some technical, 100mm fork.

    What I have so far:

    Sette Razzo
    https://www.pricepoint.com/Bikes-Fra...ns=price%2Basc

    Niner EMD
Niner EMD9 29Er Frame > Components > Frames > Mountain Bike frames | Jenson USA Online Bike Shop

I have seen Monocog and Origin 8 mentioned, along with Karate Monkey, Performance Access and On One.

    Thoughts? So many choices....

Soma Juice - not $300 or under, but still a "budget" frame with alot of bang for your buck.
    Enjoy the ride!

The china carbon frames are light and cheapish.

Good call with the EMD. Very close to the latest AIR 9 (one of my favorite bikes), save for a little weight, a different shape to the stays (AIR 9 stays are hydroformed), bottom bracket type (PF30 vs threaded), and a different headset type (integrated vs. semi-integrated). The only feature that might have any real impact on how it rides might be the stays.

have to ask, do you live near Kansas city? If so, I might be interested in taking your old frame off your hands.

Ah. I had heard it had 95% of the performance of the Air 9, plus it has the bottom bracket type that I need. The stays could affect it, but for the price I am pretty confident in my decision. I won't be able to tell anyway because it will perform better than what I have.
