Arrow Racing 29er tire news (correction)

I had a long talk about tires in general and 29er tires with Gus of Arrow Racing.

The short story is he wants to make a 29x2.35 (tread width) with this tread.

We would not see it before next summer and more likely interbike '07 before it would be in shops.

I will be posting the long version on my site blog.

Gus says this tread (the Blitz) is a fast roller. http://arrowracing.com/home.html Arrow has the best tire photos I have ever seen on their site

I'm sure others would know much more than me about Arrow tires, but I think I've heard that many of their models fit rims really tightly. I would think that would be a welcome trait here.

OOPS! I posted the wrong tire!

The Ratchet is the tread Gus and I were talking about

It is nearly as knobby as the Blitz

Whoa, that looks nice too. Looks like similar knob ramping to the Rampage. Is this a trend?

Good thing it's not coming out for a while ... I'm about to blow my tire budget for a while, what with 2 Rampages, a Resolution and a WWLT coming my way by the end of the year.

If you go back and look at that tire thread we had before Interbike, you'll see that the Arrow Ratchet is the best all around 26" tire I've ever used. Gus is the man!

BTW, you're the man too Shig!

Wow, that bad boy in a 26 X 2.4" size is 1295 grams! Does this mean a 29"er will be even more?

If so, it will make for a really hard to kill rear tire. I could see a need for that sometimes.

Hard to say at this point. Gus has not speced the 29" version yet. Could use the DH or the XC casing. Either could have its place.
