2x10 converstion for 2012 Trek Rumblefish elite

    Hi all,

First post here. Great community! Lots of great information here!

Quick question: I just bought a Rumblefish and I am curious if anyone with this bike has done a 2x10 converstion. I was under the impression that I could, but my LBS is saying something diffrent. Something about the bottom bracket not being compatible?

That doesn't make sense... You should be able to. I converted my Rumblefish from the SRAM (truvativ) cranks to a XT 3x10 but I don't see why you couldn't get a 2x10. I do know the bottom bracket is a press fit.

I could be wrong though, a bike mechanic I am not.

Guess maybe they could be talking if you switch brands, but I'm not familiar with those press fit BBs, but according to the above poster, shoudln't be an issue. Personally if it were me if I wanted to try a 2X setup, I'd just remove the big ring and replace with a bash guard, then if after a while you find you need a bigger "big gear" then change the middle ring out to something bigger. Going this way you'll have a sweet chainline and be able to use more of the gear combos. Only other thing you'd have to do with the current setup is adjust the HIGH limit screw on the FD so it won't shift up to where the big ring was.
One day your life will flash before your eyes, will it be worth watching??
