Julian Death March, April 14, 2012. Not so much action, as that feeling at the start of a race when you ask yourself: what am I doing? 30 degress and 24 with the windchill and snow at the start. 53 miles and 7k climbing. It was worse during some parts of the ride.

The guy in the lower left in shorts wins

Not sure it qualifies as "action", but I snapped this on my commute the other day from the seat of my Surly. I ride to work all winter, and this was the first day of sunshine in a looooooooooong time. I look at it and I see the reward that comes after literally months of suffering through the cold, dark winter. Could have stuck a handlebar or something in there to make it more obviously a bike photo, but to me, it's a bike photo.

Someone find the pictures of the dude table-topping what looked like 10-15 foot gaps on a purple yelli-screamy with a 100mm fork.

[e] Here's one. He's got some other 'action' photos on his website

Now that is a action shot.

Yea, those are action shots. I don't know about the rest of the stuff in this thread. I'm fortunate enough to have features like this on my local trails; I can attest to how fun the Yelli is when airborne.

i don't think the OP intended for air only action shot thread

This is just the start of bike season and the first time on a 29er so I'll see if I can get this thing to get in the air for more exciting action shots!

I was fine, it was on a climb, pedal stuck into the sidewall and couldn't unclip and rolled over. Pretty slow motion. I just find the photo hilarious

Mikesee, all great shots! What gear are you riding with to take these pics? I do some ski/snowboard photography and want to move into mountain biking shooting now that I am getting into riding. Just curious what you drag along with you on rides. I'm betting a similar kit to what I ski with, minus maybe some of the longer lenses.

No worries, and thank you! The 7D is my go to sports camera due to its speed, 1.6x crop factor and weather sealing. And probably what I will start to carry when mtn biking. To date, I have been carrying a Nikon AW100 P&S. Once I get through my first road century in June, I will begin spending more time on the mtn bike, and hopefully some more time behind the camera while mtn biking. Loving this thread for ideas!
