2013 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 29er HT has ARRIVED!

Just picked up my 2013 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 29er HT today from the LBS and slapped some pedals I had laying around before my eggbeater 3's come in. This is my first 29er and is AMAZING so far. With the X9 type 2 on the rear there is zero chain slap and the Magura MTS (mt4) brakes are very good with a TON of feel. The bike is very fast and weighed in at 25lbs on the dot with 403g crank bro pedals on it and water cage, as seen in the pictures. Bike is not tubeless yet, it will should be around 24 lbs even after I go tubeless, change the pedals to egg beater 3's and throw on my carbon seat post. Size is a 15.5

Nice, I'm considering an Evo model stumpy myself right now.
The techs at my lbs said the new Maguras are way better than the Avids.
Hardrock 29er, Niner EMD9, Cannondale F29, Camber Expert, 650b Nickel all gone.

AP783, nice bike. Just two quick questions. Is this dual air Reba or single air version? Are you sure that MTS Maguras are same as MT4? I don't see BAT system.

The fork does not have negative air, kind of disappointing but I can deal with it. The magura's feel GREAT. My previous bike had Elixir 7's and these are SOOO much better. I actually have brake feel, not just on and off only like the Avid's. I tried reading up on the MTS brakes and people said they are close to the MT4's, not 100% sure though. I can tell you they work very well twice as good as the Avid 7's.

I saw a 2013 Epic in my LBS yesterday and the MTS brake assembly on the bar said carbo tecture on it, does that help narrowing down which Magura they started out as?
As the OP said, it really doesn't matter, they are better than Avid's. I was considering trying to find a new or slight second hand EVO for the older Fox without CTD but once I had the CTD explained to me as well as realized the Maguras were on the 13's I'll just buy a new one when I can.

Here in Europe 2013 Specialized models are coming out late Semptember, early October. Magura brakes are only thing that keeps me waiting. MTS seems like a custom made MT2 because aftermarket MT2 and MT4 are made of carbotecture, but only MT4 is having BAT technology (missing on MTS). MT6 and MT8 on the other hand are made of Carbotecture SL. Cannondale will use also Magura brakes on some 2013 models, custom made MT2, MT4 and MT6 all with BAT technology. After seeing solo air Reba on Stumpy, Cannondale with Magura brakes and Lefty seems like better option.

thanks guys for all the compliments. the bike is going for the same price as last years model, $2200 msrp. just installed my egg beater 2's and went tubeless and the bike feels so stuck to the trail with tubeless and the stock tires. very happy so far.

Just curious, what type of trail are you riding? I'm considering a Stumpy for my first 29er, but I'm debating hardtail vs softtail.

So, how's she handle the rocky stuff?

Badass. Nice they went with Fast Traks this year instead of Renegades. What size Fast Traks does it have? Glad to hear the Maguras are nice, next year's upgrade for me will be brakes!

    Nice ride!

I'm considering this bike or the evo model myself. Love the black sceme of the evo model. It's hard to decide between the evo with the 1x10 or the comp.

    2. I am 5'7" are we around the same height? (trying to figure out what size I would be comfy in currently im am in a 17)

    3. I just realized that the lettering IS exactly as the pictures show on the website!!

congrats this man is very jealous

BTW, go go tubeless, you just need to install the valve stems (should have come with them), add sealant, inflate, ride.
