2013 Kona Taro- AL version of the Honzo

Looks like Kona now has an AL geared version of the Honzo as well.

Awesome. Also saw the Unit got an oversized head tube and clear over raw steel finish! I love Kona.

I always wondered why they did the honzo in steel...by the time you build a frame beefy enough for agressive riding, you are probably loosing all of the ride quality benefits from steel.

Yeah, I hope they offer a frame only version of this.

My friends Honzo still has the Steel is Real ride characteristics. And seeing how he broke his Cannondale before buying the Honzo, I think its a suitable frame for him.

I think this will be a great bike for the "entry level"...if I was still with my girlfriend I'd order a 16" and call it a day. Maybe swap a few things out ;-)

For the aluminum All-Mountain hardtail, it's hard to beat a Canfield Yelli or Banshee Paradox, but hard to argue with the Taro's price.

I have calculated (approximately) all of the parts weights assuming the Aluminum frame at 5.1lbs like my FRHT 26'er. I came up with a little over 28lbs for the complete.

This is a "reach", I know...but I really want to buy this just so I can tear it down to a singlespeed. Stock parts ranging around 26#. Changing the crankset to something outboard and losing the Pig wheelset will get you in the 23-24# range for a SS.

    I'm optimistic and excited.

I was hoping for BB/PF30, so I can run an EBB. I hope Kona or Canfield comes out with a SS version soon.
