Yes. Suppose that there are still engineering issues fitting 29" wheels on bikes with DH travel

Note also that the man, Gwin, is 0 for 2 winning against bigger hoops. Though he did beat Biggnelli who was 3rd on 27.5" KHS in this race.

No, there aren't issues and haven't been for 5 years now.

It's just that the DH market is very small thus few companies see enough ROI to spend the considerable $ in developing 29" specific rims, tires, and forks.

That, and spend some time on the MTBR DH forum and you'll realize that few who spend any time there can even spell 29, much less conceive of riding one.

Lesson 1 on how to totally derail a thread by challenging a certain fringe group's intelligence.

    Thanks Mikesee!!

I predict that 650b and 29 will be the way of the future for DH, if bigger wheels offer less rolling resistance why wouldnt they be the best option for DH ? it makes perfect sense to me and im a 26 die hard.
Dont ever let the truth get in the way of a funny story....

Intense is releasing a new DH bike this month. The educated guesses are that it will be a 29er. It will be interesting to see the acceptance of the frame if these guesses are correct.

Acceptance will come with wins, in other words "Win it and they will come". If enough 29" DH bikes start winning on a regular basis people will buy them.
This may be a total waste of time but I can't help but think that you might amount to something someday.

Then how come Gwin didn't win?

Correct, the captain is more important than the ship. A great captain can win on anything. A crap captain will still be crap on the best possible ship. That said, a great captain still insists on the best possible ship. Like one that has brakes that don't fail. Ask Gwin about that.

Tone is correct. Bigger hoops will take over DH very soon.
