New to the forum and have a 27.5 plus vs older 29 question

Iím a 65 year old former motocrosser. Havenít raced in 35 years. I have an old Cannondale M200 that I trashed recently. I retired this spring and discovered some really nice nearby mountain bike trails. Iím looking at getting a 27.5 plus, but donít want to spend a lot, since I want to get fit and enjoy the trails, but not race. Looking at about $500 to $700. Met a guy on the trails who is a serious biker and has a 2008 Gary Fisher Superfly carbon fiber that I can get for $500. Rode it and itís really nice. Found a Motobecane Fanton boost 27.5 plus on bikes direct for $699. Am I better off with an older high end 29er or a new 27.5 plus with less high end components. I like the high end benefits of the Fisher, but like the old motocross vibe of the 27.5 plus. Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.
