I'm picking between the two bikes and not sure which has the better rep. Could use your input.

I have been looking for a FS bike at the same price level for my daughter. I was between the Hawk Hill, Diamondback Atroz 3 or Comp and Ghost Kato and Lanao Fs5.. I ended up chosing the Lanao. The Lanao I found was 50% off and came with Fox performance suspension and XT Drive chain and shifter, but i like the geometry of the Hawk Hill better. I couldn't find any reviews on the Lanao, but found some good reviews on the Hawk Hill. I keep second guessing my chose and wondering if I should have went with the Hawk Hill.

Not much help, but I understand the difficuty in the chose you are trying to make.

I'd definitely go for the Hawk Hill between those two.

It gets a pretty good review from our friends to the north. If it can handle BC, it has to be a good bike.

I almost got one for my wife, but there wasn't much availability when I needed it.

No experience with either but the Hawk Hill has received pretty good reviews so I would go with that.

Not sure on what types of trails you ride and your size and I know this is in the 27.5 forum but I've ridden many different Marin bikes and the Rift Zone is my favorite. I see its only $50 more at Performance than the Hawk Hill. It's a 29er though but has 120 front and rear as well. Definitely the Hawk Hill over the GT Verb (it's much more modernized and a great value).

Hawk Hill, Rift Zone, and B-17 are all the same. 27.5, 29er, 27.5+
