Good Beginner $300 XC Bike for a Growing 15-16 y/o

    Hi all!

This is my first post on this forum. Anyway. I have this old hand me down Mongoose Rockadile mountain bike from my dad that I use for just cruising around town, but over time I've become more and more interested in light trail riding with my friends. I'm 5'4 but am still growing (I'm 15-16) so I have a few questions. Would a 27.5 be appropriate with a 16-17in frame size? I found a Diamondback Overdrive 27.5 in Medium for $385 but I have a 20% off coupon. Should I get that? If not, what good bike of the appropriate size with full disk brakes would be available for around $300.

    Thanks.
