First FS Bike - 2018 Commencal Meta TR or 2018 Transition Scout

I have narrowed down my search to these two for my first FS bike. What do you think? Any thoughts? I am more about having fun than breaking Strava times. Wants something quick and nimble. Currently riding a Norco Torrent 7.1 HT (27.5+) and love it. Just want to try rear squish.

    Both bikes are 3 grand.

    pros:
I like the looks of this one a little better. Simpler looking to me.
Better components. Pike vs Revalation , SRAM GX vs NX
    Internal cable routing. Looks clean.
2017 model was well received. Won MBR trail bike of the year.

    cons:
Longer chain stays??? 437 vs 425 - not sure if this is really a negative. Just always read about shorter rear ends.
Kind of skinny rims at 24mm. Coming from a plus bike I like the idea of being able to run wider tires (2.6 or 2.6)

    pros:
Transition bikes seem very well liked.
    New "SBG" geometry sounds good.
Made in the USA. Well maybe not made but an American country none the less.

    cons:
Not a lot of reviews out there yet.
Components not as good. See above.
    "SBG"... legit or just marketing???

I really wish I could demo these, but that just isn't going to happen.

I'd go with the Meta TR. Reason being, you've already been playing with wide tires, now you should go for slimmer ones!
As if the better specs don't attract you enough, lol

Better components does it for me. Commencal. Slightly less slack if you are riding more trail also. My 17 year old has a Meta AM 4.2 and loves it. He rips on it.

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards the Commencal. Still only available for pre-order for another week or so so have a bit more time to decide.

Or, a bit more time to drive yourself nuts.

Yeah, man, have fun with it!

I've said this before, but the Meta 4.2 feel like they wander at long, not techy climbs or mellow XC trails. Once you pick up the pace and things get chunky you'll learn how well they love to rip through the turns.

Now I kinda wish we had waited for Commencal to bring out that essential, that build is siiiick. You can always get an Avy cart for the Pike down the road.

I ended up getting the Meta v4.2 TR a few weeks ago. Loving it so far.

Unfortunately earlier than normal snow has suspended riding for the foreseeable future.

Still need to dial in the suspension and I will probably upgrade to a better/wider wheelset. Thinking a 2.6 front and 2.4 or 2.5 rear might be perfect.

Nice. This bike was on my shortlist - but I ended up spending more money on carbon.

Not knocking Transition, but the Commencal is a better bike and a better value. I own a Meta TR V4. Test rode a Scout as well. Go with the Meta TR.
