    Anyone put 650b wheels on a 29er?

I know there's a list of 26" frames that accept a 27.5" wheel so I'd like to know if anyone has gone the other way?
Just wondering if there would be any benefit or if I'd get a true 27.5 experience. TIA

Yes- Astrix Rook) bottom bracket too low, it didn't handle as well as it does now with intended 29"wheels.

    Just for sh!ts & giggles I also converted a 26 Cannondale Gemini
to a B-9er. Now the bottom bracket is too high

Yeti SB-95 on 2.4 High Roller IIs. The only downside was that the lower bottom bracket made technical climbs very hard. It was an experiment to see if I liked it over 29" wheels. I did and bought a Bronson.

I put them on a Sultan and liked it, but the BB was too low

I ended up buying an Intense Carbine 275

Just did my first ride yesterday with 650b wheels on my Inbred 29er and it was as good as I had hoped. My Inbred has a pretty high BB at over 13" with 29er wheels so with 650b wheels and large tires my unsagged BB height was perfect at about 12.375". Lower final gearing due to a smaller rear wheel was noticeable as was the quicker steering due to the lower trail number from a smaller front wheel. The bike definitely felt like it cornered better and I felt more stable being lower, but smaller wheels unfortunately can't shrink the chainstays to be an appropriate length for smaller wheels. Like the others here this is really an experiment and I don't think I will run it this way for too long. There are too many benefits to be had from a frame actually designed for 650b wheels and there are more and more options becoming available

As boomn pointed out, the problem with stuffing 650b wheels under a 29'er frame is the wheelbase will be too long and the BB will be too low.

I went the other way and stuffed a 29" wheel under a short travel fork (65mm) on a 650b HT carbon frame. Made for an awesome bike. 29" front tire rollover with 650b rear wheel acceleration and frame correct geometry with a steep 71 degree head tube and a short nimble wheelbase.

Long time 29er fan. Ran my Devinci Atlas as a 29er, 27.5(er) and a B9er to see if I could tell a difference in wheel sizes. Its 16.9" chainstays are shorter than a lot of 27.5 specific frames. Surprised how much more fun the bike was changing from 29 to 27.5. Kept trying to pop it off every little rock on the trail. 29er wheels were White Ind hubs, DT db spokes, alloy nips, and old Flows. 27.5 were SLX hubs, DT db spokes, alloy nips, and TL28 rims. My favorite combo was the B9. You get that steamroller, anti-endo front end combined with a snappy rear. Pretty darn fun in this configuration but it made the seat angle too slack. If I were going to go this route, I'd ask Walt to weld me up a frame to get the angles right.

Order that I liked the best:
    1. B9er
    2. 27.5
    3. 29

    B9er Configuration

Yelli Screamy with 140mm fork and 650b wheels. Love it. The frame is designed for 120mm fork so the 140 gives it the extra BB height it needs. Its just high enough, though in rocky terrain I wouldnt mind a bit more ground clearance, but after awhile you learn to adapt.I did a long ride on a rocky trail last week and probably only had 1 or 2 pedal strikes. Its super playful and shreds flowy single track.
