New question here. Any thoughts on the 2017-8 Diamondback Release 1?

    Hello!
I currently have a Novara hardtail from around 2001. I started mountain biking around 2 years ago and am ready for a new bike. I have been looking at the Diamondback Release 1. The 2018 model has Suntour forks and rear shock, however the 2017 model has a rockshox Yari up front and a Monarch in the rear. Just wondering if this is a good buy.

    Thanks!

Which 2018 are you seeing? The only 2018 Release 1 I see is the one on REI.com. The 2018's aren't out yet for the Release 1 officially. I'm thinking the REI one is a special release similar to what Nashbar sold last year. The nashbar one also had a higher end Suntour fork. Bike was a sweet deal at ~$1400

Personally, if your looking at the Release get it from Diamondback. If you sign up for a corp account (just google how) and use the save5 promo you can get the 2017 Diamondback Release 1 for around $1500.

I have the 2017 Release 1 and absolutely love the bike. There is no where I could take this bike that would be out of it's element. The bike rides just as good as my buddy Santa Cruz 5010 imo with a slight weight penalty.

You say I can make a corp account with DB, but when I try to it asks for a corporate code. Do you know a code?

Quick Google should answer that question. I already have an account so I can't test but try CYCLE4TAW I think. All caps.

I wanted a Release 1 but my size was sold out. I ended up getting a Release 2 and I love it. It pedals great and is tons of fun, and I never notice the weight. Feels like I got it for a steal. I would highly recommend it.
