My very first 650b attempt was with an R7. It buzzed the crown a lot in any kind of hard riding and the side knobs would rub the arch on hard cornering. It doesn't make for a very good 650b fork in my opinion.

    Nice
But that's an awfully tight fit on the seatstay bridge. There's no way a Neo 2.3 (or Nev 2.35) would fit. But then again we generally mount smaller, faster rolling tires on the rear.
    Good job
Better to have and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Carver Killer B. Swapped everything off of my Soul Hooligan on to this.

At 6'-5" a 29er is probably what most people would insist I should ride, but I really dig 650b. This bike is more fun than any of the handful of 29ers I have spent time on.

    Another Ohio 650B experiment:

First time I took this bike off road with the RaRas. At night. With a weakish headlight. Anyway, it was interesting. I can't say much about the 650B-ness of it. The low trail, rando geometry had a much bigger impact. While everyone else is slacking out their bikes, this has a 73* head angle, some 65mm of fork rake, for a trail number in the low 40s, IIRC. Pay attention, it goes wherever you point it. That is A-OK on the road, but not particularly relaxing off road.

I asked a few questions during the build, but failed to post pic's of the finished product. Full "Wifey Bike" build thread here.

I'm sold on the wheel size, and I've only been able to ride it a little bit.

@ G-reg That is some very nice work, you have some skills my friend. I'm sure your wife appreciates the fact that you fabricated that for her more than if you would have purchased a 10k carbon ride.

Nice bike, G-reg. That's one of my favorite colors.... I used to have a '72 Dodge Dart Swinger that was the same shade of blue with a white top.
I'm wondering if her wrists would be happier with the levers angled up a bit.

so sad we missed it this year; husband came down with a terrible cold on Tuesday prior to race weekend, so it didn't happen. Yes, I recognized both the spot and the Tomac "I can't believe I'm going this fast" expression on the racer's face!

    Mojo HD 160

I think I have a midlife crisis problem.... anyway, here is my "new" Yello Mello.

It is a 160mm Mojo HD w/ 115-160mm Lyrik U-turn a.k.a. The Nosediver a.k.a. The Boat anchor, Avalanche DHX 5 coiler (1/16" shim), 32x11-34 9sp drivetrain and MRP G2 SL chainguide. I am expecting wider 28" bars to appear on Monday, that is the final TBD for now. (and I have to do something about that out of control dropper line)

    Luke,

The BB height, uncompressed, is 13.4". It's probably closer to 13 or 13.2 when I'm actually riding.

    It's an incredibly fast bike.

Firstly, awesome builds, I'm loving this wheel size. Love the Rawlands, built one for the wife and that was the pinch to get me involved with 650b. Here are a couple pics of my 650b MUSS. It's been a lot of fun on some of the trails, but I also use it as my city speeder. I love that Troll, very nice do it all go anywhere visual vibe to that bike. Quick question to the XC blur poster, FNFAL, what is the make of that blue seatpost and where can I get one? Happy rollin'

Yep, 650b front and back! I like colorful bikes. I've had Gold and Red seatposts. But I felt like the Blue would stand out against the red decals.

Beautiful Bianchi! Been wanting a SS Bianchi for a while.

And yes, as stated it's a Woodman. I honestly thought about going with the carbon version, but didn't feel like the weight savings were worth the price difference. Plus I've used them for a few years and they have been solid for me.

Thanks for the kind words for the MUSS, she's been a fun ride for the past few years and putting the 650b on it has only increased its fun value. Also, thanks for the info on the post. Unfortunately I am looking for a blue post in 26.8 for my RM blizzard and it appears they do not have those around. Which is a bummer since I like the Woodman and Thomson posts.

It's not a Woodman or Thomson, but it's blue. I almost picked one up for a bike I'm building with a 29.4mm sea tube but went with a shim instead.

This one did catch my eye, and I've used UNO in the past on other rides and found them to be fine. However, I want some bling for my blizzard. I thank you for the head's up though. One might think that with all the color out there I could find the post in my size, but sometimes the search goes on. Eventually, I may have to settle for a silver Thomson.

From this pic I would say no or VERY tight with a small tire. Maybe that's a big 26" tire on there so consider that as well.

Thanks! Currently awaiting the arrival of a Hunter fork. Rick wrote last week so say there was a bit of a holdup with the paint so I'm crossing my fingers I get it soon.

I also slapped on some Rotor cranks/chain rings/bottom bracket which were on another bike and it's quite lovely.

Here's the beast with the old cranks:

with the XTR v-brakes it didnt look like it would work, but these rims tested on has not a real braking surface, so if that would have been a bit wider and maybe som small amount of modifying of the brakes I dont think its impossible

Hey mate. Would you happen to have photos of the chainstay area, to show tire clearance? I'm considering this frame, and will put a 2.1 Neo on there.

I love it! I've converted a Rush and had a Flash 29er. Didn't like it because it felt too big for me (I'm 5'6) and I kept getting pedal strikes. A conversion seems like a match made in heaven for me. Too bad Cannondale no longer offers a Flash 26 in the states..

If you have Stans 355 rims you can use Paul mx v-brakes that will adjust up to have pads hit the rim surface. Velocity may have some earlier style hoops that are rim brake compatible.
Wait whuuut, who did he tell you that!?!?....

I got a ride in on Friday. Bike is absolutely insane. I could not be happier. It weighs 26.5lbs as it sits in those pics. With lighter tires and a carbon seatpost rather than the dropper it could be sub 25lbs. I think in that setup it would be an amazing xc bike.

@morphtcat: Nice setup, my next project is based on that frame, do you have a picture of the rear tire clearance ?

Did the frame weight as low as expected?

    Thanks!!!

No sorry I don't, but it's pretty good clearance. The frame came in at about 1050 grams if I recall correctly. The entire bike is around 21-22lb. If I could use a SID fork, the bike could get down to about 20lb, maybe less.

My WR upgraded with No Ni's. Needed 3mm shock shim and cable tie around fork staunchion to accommodate the taller tire, compared to a neo 2.3.

I measured the clearance - it is 1.5 inches.
