Sorry I'm so late in getting back to you. I'm in Bentonville, which is the far northwest corner of the state...home of Wal-Mart. I blew it with adding a y by accident on trail, so now I'm trail Y guy. Oh well...

I think I'm one of about 6 people who doesn't work for Wal-Mart. There's a running joke up here that the Wal-Mart bikes the execs ride around here don't look at all like the ones in the stores!

Smal world. I grew up in Heber Springs right on the Little Red River fishing for Rainbow Trout until I was bored with it!! For awhile, the world record brown was also caught there (don't think it is any longer), and it was caught one lot upstream from where my father owns land. It's gorgeous there on both the river and Greers Ferry Lake. Fishing...check.

We have some epic trails in Arkansas, but there's not a lot of good mountain biking right around the Little Red area. You should load up your bike and fishing gear next spring and come fish the Little Red and Greers Ferry, and then drive a little north and ride at Eureka Springs, and then come hit our trails up here in NWA. I'm not sure where we're going to land in the next trail rankings, but trails are being built as we speak and there are more than you can ride in a few days all within an hour of each other.

Oh...and if you've never been to a living cave, you have to check out Blanchard Springs Caverns just outside Mtn. View. It's the first place I tell tourists not to miss in Arkansas. It's incredible.

Heck, come up this weekend. Supposed to be sunny, mid 70's, no rain, and the fall colors are getting better by the minute!

I love seeing bike pictures. I'd much rather stare at them here then at the trails. There's always that awkward moment when the guy on the bike you're staring at catches your eye and you feel a little weird. Then the words "Nice bike man" can't come out of your mouth quick enough.

Wife: "You're like a 45 year old kid."

Me: "No I'm not. I'm worse. Because I'm spending MY money on bicycles."

Thanks dude! This weekend is out, but I will try to take you up on the offer sometime!

Small world indeed.... Pictures of that ole codger posing with that record brown are what inspired the trip in the first place. But one of those hurricanes that was supposed to drown New Orleans (pre-Katrina) ended up moving inland and blowing everything out in your neighborhood instead, so we redirected at the last second to New Mexico, chasing little cutthroats ....been a gaping hole in my bucket list ever since... These days I can't bear to go somewhere like that and not bring the Mtb.

    Cheers!

Had ordered a SC Bronson in carbon, but tested against the 5010, and for me the 5010 won, it's a 5' travel vs 6" for the Bronson, also I could not take the Satin Black & Magenta (pink) so the 5010C Satin Black & White came home.

just swapped the 34 fit 140mm for a rev rct3 150mm. in the low geo setting I'm thinking a 67.2-ish head angle. starting to get the urge to throw some wide carpet fiber hoops on it.

That's a steal for that bike!! Congratulations. They had a L on closeout at our LBS for $1,800.00 and it didn't last at that price, so to get it for $1,599.00 is a NICE. As stuff wears out, you can upgrade it until it's as nice as anything out there. All it's missing is a couple of nice Razorback stickers on it, and it would fit in very well around these parts! :-)

Nice! I love that black look. I saw one on the trail the other day that had red anodized accents and cables, and it looked amazing too. You can do anything with that bike, but I like it with that flat black look. It takes on that "This bike is bad enough without anything to draw more attention to it" feel. It just looks like it's going to fast!!

Nice! We've got a rider with our local Saturday group that rides that bike, and it's BAAD. It's the only one I've seen around. It's hard to see the black paint from the distance in the picture, but up close...it's all class.

Thanks, it's an XT build for this bike except for the e*13 cranks. I do have a Jedi so I wanted this more of a trail build.

They are definitely not something you see everywhere, although I think Canfield is doing a great job getting their name out there now. This is a matte black anodized frame. They do have a limited edition red that is gloss paint.

Great picture! Like most bikes, pictures just don't do them justice. I know how good that black looks up close, and it's as well done as any out there on the trails.

I'm not at a level that I could ride that bike anywhere near its potential. I can't even ride my Bandit to anywhere near its potential! While everyone is talking about "dialing in" their FS trail and enduro bikes, I'm just trying to stay upright. I could be just as slow on that bike as I am on mine!

I've been told it's a case of "You don't know, what you don't know." I guess ignorance is bliss at this point. At some point, it has to be like golf. Yep, there may be a club out there that matches your swing characteristics slightly better, but rather than an endless search to find it, sometimes it's just better to learn to play with what you have.

Made some changes to my 2015 Bantam. Had my first ride on the 1X10 Sunday. Loved it so far. Also rode platform pedals for the first time in 15 years, that's gonna take some getting use to.

Big difference from the alloy frame! Came off last weekend and still recovering (Shoulder AC Joint) however my ride is OK - was the first thing I checked

Lol, couldn't agree more...i just installed those last week; that was my exact reaction as well. It almost looks like fat bike tires. It rolls great up and down so far.

Here's mine. Fun rig, no? Especially in wide carbon mode!

We may be the last two guys in existence on this kind of bike with a traditional seatpost...LOL

After a few months I'm feeling like I've gotten mine pretty well dialed. Austin riders will recognize that spot in the first pic.

cracking up right now. My buddies give me so much crap that I won't / haven't gone with a seat dropper. Boy, you weren't kidding, our bikes are identical.

Which rear shock are you running. I was thinking about going to the Rochshox Monarch RT3, because i didn't think I could run the RC3, is that what you're running? I currently have the Fox Float CTD , but have blown it out 2xs & rebuilt, not functioning properly now, again.

Please let me know what your currently running and if you like it.

    Best,
    Chris

Funny, mine gave me crap when I did get one....but that was a flaky early Crank Bros I got cheap a couple years ago pitched shortly thereafter....just haven't gotten back around to it since I ride for fun (with a bunch 'o smokers) so it's not a big deal to stop for 30 secs before the fun stretches of trail and adjust seat height...but mostly I just roll with a kind of neutral mid-height that pedals well enough and tell myself "Lay off the brakes and it'll all work out fine" when the going gets hairy. I'm going to grab a Thomson Covert one of these days and do the Graves Mod on one of the several XT front shifters I have kicking around.

It's pretty easy to do better than the Float. Mine is a couple year old Monarch Plus, MM tune, originally run on another MojoHD. I really like it. It's the only shock I've run on this frame, but I've been through a couple Floats, one of which was push tuned, and a push tuned Monarch AM on previous Mojos. This Monarch Plus is the best of the bunch. Ibis recommends the LM tune (Light Comp damping, Medium rebound), I believe, on the Monarch Plus, but I would not want lighter LSC than how this shock is setup. This doesn't surprise me because Ibis seems to default to lighter compression than what I like for our local ledge drops and rocky tech climbs...

As excellent as I think the M+ is, I might have tried a CCDB inline or X-Fusion Vector Air based on all the positive press on those, but I'd already blown the budget...and I have zero complaints on this shock.

Ooops...remembering what thread this is... sorry for the hijack! We can always "take this outside".

Built this up about 2 months ago. Have a Chromag TrailMaster saddle on it now and ordered an M986 XTR derailleur for it this week also As it sits right now it's at 27.xx pounds. Can't remember the finer numbers, but I believe it was getting near 28 pounds

Just switched from riding many different FS bikes since '08 to a carbon hardtail. Absolutely loving the instant responsiveness this bike has on the trails. IMO it makes biking feel alive again and not feel like I'm wrestling and old Mare. There is no getting lazy or you will be punished.
