160mm travel fork on Marin hawk hill 2? yay or nay?

Does anyone know if this increase in travel would adverse effect the geo on a Marin Hawk Hill 2? Called them up and they of course said its not a good idea. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes it would affect the geometry in a bad way. It may also put undue stress on the headtube.

    Bad idea.

If you want a burlier bike, then get something else with the travel that you want. Don't try to make a trail bike into an enduro bike.

Ok, will a smaller fork be better? I know 160 was a lot.. I don't intend to build a dedicated DH bike just yet but the fork i get now will and i hope be swapped over to the build in the future.

You could easily do a 130 mm travel fork on that bike and it will ride fantastic. I'd look for one that's good quality with the option to change the travel length in the future if you choose to swap to a different bike.

By way of example, the Suntour Auron is very good quality and can easily be changed between 120 and 150 mm travel.
