Who is making a 27.5/650b FS XC race bike for 2014? 100-120mm travel, no more...

Just curious... I haven't seen much yet.

I know of Giant so far, and Scott.

Feel free to list non-US brands as well, if you know of any.

    Thanks!

Giant seems like the best option.

I will be landing the new 27.5" Morewood Zula frame in a couple weeks. I've been riding one for a while now and really like it. Though mine really is set up more as a short travel trail bike, than XC racer, it's a great bike.

I never weigh my bikes, but according to Morewood, the black one pictured comes in at 25lbs even.

    Cheers,

Unfortunately everyone in the entire bike industry decided to make the same 650b this year - a 140-160mm travel trail bike. Wait a year or two and hopefully there will be more options for XC (and really, really good deals on whatever trail bikes weren't popular).

Edit: If you like single pivots (which I do but some don't) the Morewood Kirk is talking about looks like a pretty perfect modern XC/short travel setup.

More trail bike in geometry (DHer's XC bike) but it is light and fast. I think it will be coming out in carbon next year.

Spark 700? Feather light frame but wallet heavy.

Turner Flux. Santa Cruz 5010 (Solo). If you need size small - Nicolai Helius TB (they do 29 in M and up). Ventana Alpino.

Wow: that is a fine shot of the black on black. I had envisioned it as a final exam for my photo class with my Anthem Advanced 1 if I have it by then. It has a black/charcoal scheme, too. I was thinking carbon hoops and Chris King wheels with red nipples.

    oh….yeah…the topic…

    Anthem Advanced 0

Carbon all over the place, XO, 100mm, around 22-23 lbs.
    I don't rattle.

The Giant Anthem Advanced 0 felt like the fastest XC bike I have ever ridden. As fast as a 29er HT without being a HT. Way more fun to ride.

I feel pretty strongly that those are not XC race bikes. XC-able trail bikes, sure. But not pure race bikes.

I think it's a Revolver 650b, listed on my LBS website as a 2014 model, but Norco doesn't show it on theirs...

Thank goodness someone crafted this post. It seems like everything is 120mm plus in the 275FSXC range. I know 120mm is the new 100mm, but some of us want fast, fun and simple. Moccasin Bend Bikes (TN) is importing what looks to be a Chinese carbon Spark-ish bike. Mtb Garage (GA) also is importing a similar bike. Pacenti is a smart cookie and I bet he wouldn't import the Zula if it wasn't a contender. The Turner Flux is so close, but I still wish Pivot would make a short travel dwlink 275FSXC bike.
