Where to buy new wheels to convert from 26" to 27.5"

When you want to convert your 26" bike to a 27.5" bike, where do you buy the wheels? Also, how do you know if it is safe?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

I am not sure if there are any off the shelf 650b wheels, there used to be. So you can either have a place like universal cycles, prowheelbuilder, Stans or your LBS build a set or build one yourself. Your choice of hubs and rims will depend on your riding style and your budget. You also can usually find some on ebay.

Is it safe? It is safe if your frame and fork can take them without rubbing or bottoming out. Let us know what frame and fork you are considering for this and I am sure someone can tell you if they are compatable.

Building a 650b is a little bit more work that a 26 or 29, but it is well worth the effort.

Thanks. I just checked the wheel and there is hardly any room between the tire and the fork now - so I don't think a 27.5 inch wheel would fit. Oh well.....guess I'll have to save my pennies for a new bike.

Deals currently on e-bay for 650B frames and complete bikes

Not to encourage your bike addiction too much but there are quite a few new Jamis 650B bikes and frames on e-bay currently for sale. It appears some sellers are blowing out new old stock.I just bought a frame myself.
    Good luck

I own a cannondale scalpel 2 2011 size small and Ive been thinking on converting it to 27.5. I am not sure if it will fit. I have measured it with a tape meter but I am not 100% sure, thus not investing in any yet until I am completely sure.

Can anyone shine a light on this?
    THks!
