Suggestions for sub $800 650b Hardtail SS frame

Looking to build up a SS for my wife, a small 650B steel hard-tail frame would do the job. Sliders or rockers preferred.
The Soma B-side looks good, but was hoping to put a 100m fork on the front.

Any and all suggestions welcome ... Thanks

I would look at both 650b specific and 26er frames. You may be able to find a 26er frame cheaper since they are currently not as popular. I would suggest some of the Surly's, like the Troll. I currently ride a converted MUSS, which originally had a 100mm sus fork before I went back to rigid. I don't think you will change the geo of the B-side much by using a 100mm fork. I built a Rawland Sogn for my wife last summer and she loves it. It's built more in a touring style than an aggressive mtb or cross bike, but that's how she rolls. Good luck!

I see you posted over in the SS forum too. I'm surprised others haven't chimed in as well. I'd like to add KHS to the list if you can stand aluminum. Otherwise, just go for the Soma since you've got that on your mind. I suppose you can take Rawland out of the picture since they are not sus corrected frames, but neither was my MUSS and it worked just fine. It's just better rigid.

    No fuss with the MUSS

2014 small Kona Explosif with sliders, $500 at Bikeman:
Bikeman Kona Explosif 27.5 Mountain Frame Only, 15inch, 2014
You can see the sliders in the dropout picture.

If you can wait a few months, and are OK with aluminum, the geometry/weight/tire clearance of the Bird Zero are all very appealing:
Bird MTB. 650b Bikes for the UK.

Not sure if/how the Bird frames take sliders. Price is listed at $560 USD. Quick to respond to emails.

Im afraid theres no plans to offer a SS option on the alu frame at this time on the Bird Zero.... although there probably will be an option on the Steel version, but thats a long way out right now (6+ months)

Might be a little over $800, but the Jamis Dragon One frameset ticks all of your boxes

I ride mine with a 100mm fork. No issues, handles great.
