Pairing a WTB i23 650b rim with a Schwalbe Marathon GG 650b x 42 for light duty use?

    Any thoughts on this combo?

    Tire: Schwalbe Marathon
    Rim: WTB i23 650b

It'll be on the front of 26r/27.5f rigid Franken-bike (don't ask - maybe I'll post separately when it's done).

It'll see a lot of paved use, including a bunch of road miles with the local road cycling club - trying to keep up with the C group). I'll also see some bumpy paved path riding, plus a bit of dirt/gravel road and minimal mellow singletrack use.

It's a bit wider rim (23mm internal width) than would typically be used with a 42mm tire, will I have any issues with seating, or having it roll off the rim? I've no plans to try to run tubeless with the combo.

I know that there are other 650b rim options out there, but I'm leaning towards getting the WTB rim due to it's basic beefiness (strength) while still being fairly light weight, it's modest cost and having the option to go tubeless (with a nice fat footprint) with a different, knobbier tire for legit off-road use in the future.

    TIA.

No. I ran Grand Bois Hetres (650B x 42) on ENVE AM rims (24mm internal width) with no issues.

    I've gone and done it.

And the first couple of shakedown rides it seems to be a good combo With 50psi it rolls fast and seems solid.

BTW, the 42mm 650b front wheel/tire combo has the same overall diameter as my rear 26"/2.5".
