    Norco Range 650b Conversion

I had a 26 inch Range frame collecting dust so I thought I would try throwing a pair of 650b wheels on it. I couldn't be happier with the result. The bike climbs technical trails better than before, has more traction, and is a few pounds lighter. It does require a bit more rider input when cornering but this is something you adapt to very true quickly. I am running a fox 34 CTD 650B fork instead of a fox 36 and lighter wheels so the bike is not as confidence-inspiring on steep downhills. Overall it is a better trail-bike thantit was in 26-inch mode. The BB is half an inch higher and the bike feels noticeably taller. I managed to fit a 2.35 Hans Dampf on the back. Plenty of chain-stay clearance but just barely enough clearance at the seat-stay arch. Would need a smaller tire if I rode in muddy conditions.
