Good job! Momsen 650 b project build complete

    Momsen 650 b project-uber light x country.-momsen-4512.jpg

At 19.6 pounds this is an awesome build:
    Industry nine torch wheels
    Formula R1 racing hydraulic brakes
    Sram XX1 drivetrain
Ritchey carbon seatpost and riser bar
Rock Shox Sid solo air fork
    Sella Italia SLR saddle
    Racing Ralphs-tubeless

The bike looks absolutely sweet, here in front of the Capitol, Washington DC. It built up really easily with all the bearings pressing in smoothly.
I can't wait to test out the 27.5 in platform compared with the old 26er.
Thanks to Brian Crowe of Papillon Cycles in Arlington,Virginia for his incredible attention to detail and professionalism on this build. Find him and his great shop at: About Papillion Cycles - Papillon Cycles

Not hating by any means, but is that 29.6lb figure a typo? I can't fathom how the bike would weigh over 25 with the build kit you've got on it.

    Sweet bike tho!
I'm always looking for new people to ride with. If you are on the Front Range, shoot me a PM and let's go ridin'.

Haha, that would have been one expensive 30lb hardtail!

Project Uber light Momsen 650b is complete.

    Momsen 650 b project-uber light x country.-momsen-650b-0011.jpg

Actually complete 3 weeks ago, but this old geezer screwed up his 50 year old back and has been hobbling around like an old fart since-hence too the uncut steerer tube and lowish saddle height-that'll change soon.
All good now, and will be hammering the trails around Washington DC soon.
I'll be at the MOCO epic later this summer doing the awesome 65 miler route for any locals wanting to hook up. Most of my riding is at Schaeffer farms, Patapsco and the Frederick watershed This Momsen is going to be awesome on the rocky, rooty singletrack around these parts.
Full shake down opinion coming to this forum soon.
    For the equipment geeks:
    19.6 pounds
    Sram XX1
    Formula R1 racing brakes
... Industry Nine Torch Wheels and hubs
    Carbon Ritchey cockpit
    Sella Italia SL seat
    Tubeless Racing Ralphs
    Rock Shox Sid

    Sweet looking ride.

So glad to see you have changed rotors, it looks like part of the front one was missing in that pic outside of the Capital, that could have ended badly

Did I say sweet looking ride?

Yea, that missing piece of rotor thing can really affect the braking
I'm really pleased with the build- now to see how she rides!

thanks, orthoguy-maiden ride happened this morning in a slight drizzle at the Schaeffer farms Mtb park near Germantown, Maryland.
This bike is frikken awesome. The steering response is scary quick just point-and-shoot!
I love the geometry of this frame-it's a sharp handler, and I know the racing snakes like a lower flatter stem combo, but i've left a lot of steerer tube uncut and got a short, 70mm stem with a mild rise, plus slight rise in the handlebar-this is really comfortable for me at age 51 with a buggered lower back.
It climbs anything, and the huge beefy bottom bracket allows for immediate pick-up when stomping on the pedals.
The Formula brakes are a real **** to set up, but once done are the bomb.
The Sram xx1 is pretty cool, must say, but loved my old XTR 3x9, so can't say i'm wowed by Sram.
I think i'm gonna have to find myself some faster trail riding buddies though!

Looks fantastic. I'm looking around for a carbon hardtail frame to build up. I hope to get it together by next season.

loving the 650 b wheel size-makes those scary fast little rocky/rooty sections just a little more controlable
