    Maxxis

(From Eurobike (Pinkbike article) -Thursday show report

The excuse many people keep citing about there being a not enough 27.5" tires to choose from is quickly losing credit. Maxxis is the latest tire giant to join the 27.5" club, with their well-liked Highroller II and Ardent models bridging the gap between 26'' and 29'' sizes. Aggressive riders will be stoked to see that the Highroller II comes in a high volume 2.4" width, complete with Maxxis' ST (Super Tacky) rubber compound. The faster rolling Ardent will be available in a slightly smaller 27.5'' x 2.25'' size, but uses Maxxis' EXO Protection sidewall to greatly limit the chance of cutting the tire's casing on sharp edges.

Here is the link to the article: Thursday Randoms - Eurobike 2012 - Pinkbike

The comments are quite entertaining, too.

The 650B mother ship is steaming along quite nicely now with more and more tire and bike choices......much to displeasure of the total idiots commenting over on PB. Some of those people have their heads stuck so far up their 26" rules the world butts it's not even funny.

Speaking of new tires, any comments on the Vredestein brand?

I would prefer Ignitors in B size. That was my favorite tubeless 29er race tire. It's interesting the broad scope 650b encompasses. Hopefully it will continue to grow laterally to include full on XC and AM/DH.

Def see it going to DH in time.....(maybe within a year as KHS and others already announcing 650B DH sleds...)

Ah yes, the deep and powerful wisdom of the PB comments section. Such great insight and visionary stuff. HA!

Thanks for sharing, my decision to go 650b just got better with Maxxis coming aboard too.

That's it, if you can get High Rollers in 650b, 650b has officially hit the big time!

It doesn't confirm that is the case...just speculates. I'd love to see it.
It'd be great if he did better than and had a high placing with them. He could run an CRF450 and would lose to Gwin...

I hated the Ignitor in 26" as the 2.1 version was too narrow and the 2.35 too heavy.......but surprisingly it's been a great 29" front tyre to me....

I was hoping Maxxis might do a 650b Ikon and Ignitor straight up....

The Ardent is a good rear tyre and I've never liked the slow rolling Highrollers.

Hopefully more tyre announcements from Maxxis soon.

"KHS has a 650 prototype DH bike, and Bingelli is rocking a Dorado--a fork that will take a 650b wheel..."-Colin Meagher

Eyewitness photographer there right now, confirmed right there in his description of the photo. He's one of the best in the photo journo's in the biz and I'll take his word for it.

There's only about 3 people who stand a fair chance against Gwin, and no, Logan is not one of them. But he is capable of a top 20 which says alot.

Schwalbe and Maxxis are on board, just wish WTB would commit.
TCS Bronson 650b would be great.
I think the Hans Dampf will be the next experiment when the Neo I have wear out/flat beyond repair.

Those 2.4 HRIIs might finally be what I need to try a 650b DH bike. Awesome. Hope the casing is burly enough.

Just run DH tubes in them, beefs up many a marginal FR tire...

This is another image of him.

The fact they have a prototype and he is running a compatible fork does not make it a 650b bike...I think Meagher would have flat out said it was if that were the case.

Sure hope Binggeli isn't on that 650b because his Timed Run came in at 3rd to last place

I guess he wasn't on 650b. According to KHS he was running 26" but they verified that he'll be running 650b at Rampage for sure.
