I haven't taken pics of it yet, but my girlfriend inherited a sterling ladies bike from her grandmother and I just saw it for the first time on sunday. Checked the tire size figuring it'll need new rubber as part of a restoration and the tires are 650B-584 bead (26 x 1 1/2 canadian to be specific).

The handling in the FSR is still great, and I definitely notice the ability to roll over stuff a little better, while still allowing me to get the front and back wheels off the ground and move the bike around the way I like.

DO NOT get rid of your 26-inch wheeled bike until you are sure it won't fit 650b wheels. You will go from old-school to cutting-edge, and love the improvement.
Josh, welcome aboard (Jeff here). Glad you're like the setup...but I already new you would

I've just helped Art get some stuff ordered for his Mojo. Hopefully by the end of next week he'll be rolling 650 F/B

Hi, added a couple of pics. So far I am really pleased with the conversion, I will try setting up the bike with a Fox RL100 32 later.

EDIT: With the Pro 445 fork the bottom bracket sits about 308mm from ground to center (12.1inches).

2003 and newer Brodie Full Suspension XC and AM MTB's...does yours fit 650B?

I don't think there are many Brodie owners in the 650B forum, so I posted in the Brodie forum too, in the hopes that I catch some Brodie owners.

If you have one of these bikes, let us know if a rear 650B wheel with a 2.0 - 2.35 tire fits and if so, how is the clearance.

    2011, 2010 OR 2009 Knack Mettle Ethos

2008 Knack Mettle (Not without smaller tires) Rite Baku Loki

2007 Knack Mettle Rite Baku Loki (07 Mettle and Knack diff from 08)

2006 Awl Cyclone have small angle brace between seat tube and top tube

2005, 2004 Cyclone Hurricane Awl and Rocket and Sauce

    2003 Rocket Sauce

If you have one of these, try to fit a rear 650B wheel with a 2.0-2.35 tire and see if it fits and how much clearance there is.

I tried a 2.25 Racing Ralph in my 2008 Mettle but it was a bit too tight. It fit but clearance was too slim. I have a 2.1 Neomoto and 2.0 Quasimoto on the way to try again and will report my findings asap.

If you haven't tried it and you live in the GTA (Toronto area) or are not far from Pickering/Durham region, let me know, as I am getting some 650B wheels soon and we can try it out. I have two Brodie's, only one of which it may be possible to run 650B (without serious modification).
    thanks,

I plan on trying out 650B on my BMC TE01 (2010) soon. I'm saving up and keeping an eye out for deals on a Fox fork and some wheels. My Rock SHox fork will not fit the 650B wheel size, unfortunately.

There is some great info in the thread. Thanks very much for creating it.

2008 Brodie Mettle 650B fits with Neomoto 2.1

Here is my 08 Brodie Mettle with a 2.1 Neomoto 650B. Looks not too bad. The Neomoto Is just mounted on a wheel without a cassette or rotor, just to try fit, so it may not be facing the right direction. I don't like that the tire looks like it doesn't have as much volume as the 2.1 Nevegal 26" I am running. Still, it does fit. Which of the 2.1 Neo 650B and the 2.1 Nev 26" has a larger volume, and/or height above the rim?

I wonder if a 2.35 Neomoto would fit. A 2.25 Racing Ralph does not fit. My 2.1 nevegal 26" is compared on the right (and worn down a bit I might add).

If the 2.3 Neomoto is not bigger in volume than the 2.1 Neomoto, I wonder what other tire is bigger than the 2.1 Neomoto but smaller than the Racing Ralph. For now at least, that is what I am looking for. If I can keep the same tire volume, or height above the rim going from 26" to 650B then it's worth it, but if I am going from a 26" wheel and tire to a 650B and I end up with less tire bc that is all that fits, then it's not ideal for me.

Special thanks to Andrew at Cycle Solutions at Main and Kingston road (Toronto Beach area store) who helped me out with fitting and trying tires.

This is a 2012 Trek 4300 with a minimalist 2.2 x 26" rear tire. From this angle and from the geometry (69*HTA & 11.7"BB), it looks like it might be worth a bit of B-exploration. Unfortunately, this is a craigslist post photo - not my bike. Wondering if any of you B-curious shoptechs might have a wheel and 4300 in stock on your showroom floor.

    If anyone wants to know,

2012 Full carbon mountain bike MTB 26ER frame 21" Fork-in Bicycle Frame from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com

Is not compatible. This bike is a "Hongfu" brand frame, but generally sold everywhere as the unbranded 26".

so far I am 0/2 on guessing for a 26.5 conversion. No tears though. I've had fun with the bikes I've bought.

    Any thoughts on this?

Sandvik Titanium Mongoose 10.7 DX Pro?

SIFU, so far my I've had success with bikes that accept a 2.3 + wheel in the back. I've had to run a narrower 2.1 to make it work, but that's been my successful formula.

Finally got around to converting my 26" Curtlo hardtail. I've been in love with the way this frame rides (true temper OX platinum tubes) but cannot hide the lack of rollover after riding 29'rs.
So 27.5 it is. Got a good ride in yesterday and I'd say it was well worth it!
BB height with 650's is at 13.25. Not too shabby

On One Inbred 26er Vertical Dropout

Just in case anybody was wondering (and I'm sure most people weren't) the 2012 Inbred with the vertical dropout DOES fit 650B. Unfortunately its not a fit that I would consider rideable. Mr. Fed-Ex dropped off my spanking brand new frame this morning and I couldn't help but try a 650B in the rear just for giggles....

The tire wheel combo is a Velocity P35 and a Schwalbe Racing Ralph inflated to about 50psi. The pictures don't do the clearance justice because I'm horrible at taking perspective type photos but the there's more room in the chainstay area than I have with my Voodoo Bokor (the bike the wheel came off). The seatstay bridge is where things start to get tight. The wheel spins freely but there is barely enough room between the tire and the frame to fit a couple of credit cards.

Maybe I won't be selling this bike! I love the FB as a 26" and loved it with a 650b on the front, but the little riding I've done on it as a full 650b bike feels really good. I'm going to put it through a full regular ride on the hardest climbs, descents and obstacles I normally play on.

Getting some time in on my Firebird 650b and I must say that this is another great conversion bike. I've been riding my Carbine for a month or so as a 27.5 and that has taken it from awesome to incredible. With the Firebird, I feel the same about this conversion, where I don't lose the feel of a playful 26" bike, but the enhanced "roll over" and contact patch only improve this bike in slow techy climbs in rocky terrain. It does feel faster bombing down the rocky descents also
