Just converted 2013 Santa Cruz TRC to 650b. WOW.

So i've been thinking about doing this for a while and finally ordered the Industry Nine Torch 24 with a NN for the front and a RR for the rear.
Took it out for a quick 10 miles and i could definitely tell the diff. Overall i think it handled better and climbing was great.
I went to shim the rear shock but found a volume spacer inside the shock so i skipped it. It rubbed once or twice, so i may have to revisit this. Has anyone else had the volume spacer inside the shock?

If anyone has any insights on shimming the 2013 CTD shock that would be great. My question really is since i have the volume spacer in there, so i still need to shim the shock. I already have the nylon spacers.

Congrats... You will be surprised how good is TRc with 650b wheel. For me so good it's hold my back to get the actual 650b bike, particularly looking at how much the new 650b line up from SC priced.
And it's fit my bill as well with slightly higher bb as I strike my pedal quite a bit on my rocky trail.

For the shock shimming, I believe the installed spacer is to get the TRc travel stop at 125mm using the shock 7.875" x 2.25" shock. TRc doesn't need the full shock 2.25" stroke to get 125mm wheel travel. To save from rubbing with 650b you need to put another 2-3mm shim there to reduce the travel a bit to 120mm (approx.)

What size Nobby Nics are you running?
I'm running 2.25's and the rear would just buzz the cable stop at full compression, so I added about 2mm shims for insurance. I think the volume spacer affects the ramp-up in shock rate, but not the travel, so the shims are a separate thing. I have the RP23, so I'm not sure about the CTD.

I have the Racing Ralph 2.25 in the rear so i think its a bit smaller than the NN 2.35. I had this combo on my last bike and liked how it rode and handled. I am going to add the spacers tmmw.
