    Jenson USA v Universal cycles

I am about to order some wheel and both Jenson and Universal have the wheels in I want. Given the choice who would people go with or are they both equally as good as one another? The price is the same at both places.

Both are reputable companies. You cant go wrong either way IMO.

Did you use the vip10 or vip15 coupon code at Universal (10% or 15% off)? That could knock a big chunk of $ off the Universal order
    No moss...

Thanks, the wheels I want (ENVE) are not able to be discounted any further than the listed price.

    Jenson USA v Universal cycles

In my experience Universal ships faster. Also if you're in CA you'll have to pay tax with Jenson.

Jenson is really fast in California, never a problem and their free shipping is nice.

Probably very little difference then. Universal may get them out the door a little faster.

I say find a cheaper price and see which one will match it and go with them. I use both of them and theyre really good about price matching

If prices are similar, I'd go with Universal. I bought a wheelset from them back in December and ended up blowing apart the rear Shimano XT hub. I called and told them what happened (it had only been a couple of months so they were essentially new) and they gave me a return UPS label immediately. When they received the wheel, the head bike tech actually called me to let me know that he was working on the problem and what he was planning on doing. Despite being a large online retailer, they run their service house like a LBS. I'd definitely order from them again in a heartbeat.

Jenson has been good for finding deals on last years gear (discontinued)
But, I can't think of one time that they actually shipped an order without having to wait because something was on back order. Last time it was over a 2 week wait.
Universal has been much better. I wish I knew about the vip15 code. I have a $200 order being delivered tomorrow

I like both and use both, but Universal ships faster and is cheaper. I just use their super saver and I get the package in 3-4 days.

I ordered from universal, my parcel will be going out today. You cannot argue with that for service.

Another one for Universal. CS was great, build tech made contact right away the next day when spokes quoted weren't right for the specific build I had setup. Wheel came 2-3 days later if I recall. Nothing bad to say about Jenson.
Wait, who did he tell you that?....

I have purchased 2 Universal Cycles built wheelsets (Road wheels for my commuter) over the last 5-6 years. On both wheelsets, when they are first weighted and the wheels make their very first revolution, I can hear dozens of "pings". I'm by no means an expert, but I assume this is the spokes and nipples settling. I get about 1.5 - 2 years out of a wheelset on my commuter before the sidewalls of the rims wear out. Both wheelsets from Universal held up fine before they needed to be replaced due to sidewall wear. Customer service has always been good.

I've had my go to LBS build several wheelsets (Mountain and Road) and one from Chad at Red Barn Cycles and did not hear the pinging on the first ride.
I only ride bikes to fill the time when I'm not skiing.

Both stores have great CS and quick shipping. I prefer Universal because of their vastly larger selection, cheaper shipping and the discount coupons that will work on the majority of things they sell.
