    Help me choose a bike!

I can probably get out and test ride the Giant Anthem 27.5" but not the Ibis Ripley. I live in Michigan and must of my terrain is tight singletrack with a lot of up down hills. No long extended climbs but some technical climbs with a few switchbacks. I am 5'6" tall and am 45. Have been looking to get a carbon bike for awhile. I currently own a Ventana El Padrino 29er HT and a Ventana El Bastardo FS 650B. I don't really need another bike but you know how it is just want some new gear. So my choices are either a brand new Giant Anthem Advanced 1 that I can get for $4100 out the door tax and all locally. Or there is a Ibis Ripley that was a demo bike that is in excellent condition that I can get for $3899. I know it is a personal thing but I am having a real hard time deciding which way to go. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am also going to post in the 29er forum to get a different point of view from that forum.

    Thanks,

    Chuck

Depends what you want. You know each wheel size so it should be easy. Longer travel bikes I MUCH prefer 27.5 and it's not even close. For hardtail 29er and for shorter travel depends on the bike.

Does Giant even have a 29er anymore? Or are we talking last years model?

I saw a Ripley 29er in person this summer and I would pick it anyday over a giant. It was light but still burly looking.

Not really sure. Might keep it for my daughter or as a backup. It is a killer bike and hate to let it go. I have been trying to sell it with no luck. I don't want to take a bath on it and would rather just keep it then sell it to cheap.
