Hans Damp snakeskin 2.25 finally out

Schwalbe Hans Dampf Evo Snake Skin TrailStar 650B x 2,25" TL-Ready foldable

For folks who've been desperate for a Schwalbe tire small enough to fit their frames/forks with sidewall protection.

I've been waiting and waiting. Wish they had em in Pacestar, but what a killer price! Had to order a pair...

Thank you OldManBike, I ordered a pair. This tire should be a great rear tire option for the North East, a nice complement for the Trail Taker in the front.

I'm interested in this tire sort of, but not the trailstar version. I suppose it's only a matter of time 'til other options become available...

If you don't mind me asking, what was freight from Germany?

$26 to US, seems to be same flat rate if you order 1 tire or 4.

Yup, 26.58 for DHL shipping for a pair. At first I balked, then realized the total was far less than what I recently paid for 2 HD 2.35's here in the US. And they were out the door this morning...

My experience with that particular retailer has been fine, but my point wasn't to encourage folks to buy from them, just that those tires are becoming available. I haven't checked around to see who else has them yet.

Anyone managed to get these setup tubeless? I cannot get the bead seated with a blast of air from a tank, the tire is *stiff*. I had it sitting one another wheel with a tube at 50 PSI for more than twelve hours before trying to air it up tubeless.

Do they fit tighter than the 2.35" HDs? (If you've ever used one). I've set up a bunch of Scwalbes with the method described above.

Can anybody post some dimensions with the tire mounted for everybody wondering whether they'll fit conversion bikes? Or how much clearance you have relative to well known 650b tires like Neo Motos or Nevegals?

They are very tight but I cannot compare them to 2.35s. I got to try some new tricks.

Not listed on their website, and IIRC the HD SS was on there a while before it became available.

Hans Damp snakeskin 2.25 finally out

A friend has the 650bx2,25 installed in TL28 rims
Height is exactly the same than pacenti neo motos 2.35
And wide 54mm (58mm neo motos)

Seeing this comparison doesn't sound like it will lead to being used much on tight clearance conversions tho.....
Wait, who did he tell you that?....

Darn, you had to post those... I ordered a pair too... LoL! I've been waiting on a snakeskin Nobby Nic in 2.25, and just can't wait anymore. Was about to pull the trigger on a Hutchinson Cougar (seems to get good reviews for my type of riding), but this deal was too good to pass up. Anyone running these up front? Comments?

That would be nice. I'm running the non-snakeskin 2.25 Nobby Nics now, but I worry about their durability when I ride rocky terrain. If they end up getting shredded I might have to get some of these new Hans Dampf tires unless they start making the 2.25 Nobby Nic snakeskin.

I'm also considering squeezing in a set of the 2.35 Nobby Nic snakeskins, but I'm concerned about clearance on my TRc.

Poked a hole (in the tread area not sidewall) in my 2.25 NN's this weekend. Big enough that I had to put a tube in. First ride in rockyish terrain.
Not inspiring much confidence in the durability. I ordered a pair of the 2.25 HD snakeskins to replace them.
I'm also runnning a b'd TRc and would love to know if you can squeeze in a 2.35 NN or HD. Let me know if you try it.

For those who care about this sort of thing, the two I just received weigh 692 and 704g. (That's with the rubber band.) For comparison, the 2.35 SS HDs are ~850g. I never got around to weighing my 2.25 NNs before mounting.

Your weights sound good. I've got a 2.25Hd in the mail .
I must have got a real good HD 2.35. Came in at 765g. Only 15g heavier than my 26" Hd's.

Actually, looking at what others have posted, I think I got an unusually heavy one. Claimed is 795g, and two others I weighed were 810 and 840. Just geeking out on numbers, none of it means a thing.

I just ordered one direct from Schwalbe N.A. They shipped it out the same day. I picked up this tire to give a little extra rear tire clearance on my Explosif. I'll have a very low mileage PaceStar 2.35" available next week if anyone is in need. PM me.
