    Geax 650b

Pricepoint has the Saguaro and AKA on sale...

27.5/650B | Tires | Discounted Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes and Cycling Gear at PricePoint.com

I like the Saguaro in back on my 29'er singlespeed so I picked one up to replace the worn out Wolverine on the back of my Curtlo! Haven't seen the Saguaro anywhere else so I thought it worth sharing...

Anyone running this tire yet? I use to run one when I was on 26" wheels and loved it. I had the TNT and foldable version and both mounted up great on Mavic UST rims. Wondering how folks are doing with this tire tubeless on Stans rims.

Thanks for the tip. I like these too but they seem to be abit on the heavy side, specially compared to the Wolverines which I have also.
Wait, who did he tell you that?....

Just a head's up-got my 650b Saguaro from PricePoint and it's a 2.0 and pretty small. Around 50mm high, 51mm wide knob to knob. Might be a good choice for a bike with close clearance or a fast, skinny option. I'm not sure it's going to work for me but I'm going to try it out and see.

Did you want a 2.0? It's weird, you go to the $39 tire link and it lists a 2.2 "TNT". But on the TNT link it shows a 2.0. Wondering if they sent you wrong tire maybe?

Yeah, I thought I was getting a 2.2 but the 2.0 rolls fine so I reckon I'll keep it...

Steve, glad to hear about the size. They'll be replacing my Quasi.

What rims are yours mounted on? Any issues?

    Thanks!

I always thought that the Quasi resembled the Saguro, with more open/bare space between the knobs.

88 - let me know how it hooks up at BW.

My take on the tire is it's like a 2.0 650B FastTrac.

I wasn't! But it's okay--fast and grippy. Just doesn't look very impressive since I'm used to higher volume tires. It's on a Stans 355 rim-went on fine but (due to a couple of dings in the rim according to my mechanic) it wouldn't air up tubeless. I need to replace that rim before too long.

Following up on this tire-I've spent some time on it and it's been pretty excellent on my "fast" bike. I'm pretty pleased with its grip and rolling resistance. I did also manage to get it to set up tubeless by laying a cheap rubber rimstrip on top of the Stans tape to help the tire up onto the bead seats. Some pics from my recent riding in northern lower Michigan-as you can see it doesn't really give up much volume to the 2.2 Wolverine up front:

    Geax 650b

One thing I really like about Geax TNT, is how reliable and foolproof they are to run tubeless. Never had any PIA pinprick holes with Barro Mtb (on my 26'er with Crest rims) or Saguaro (on my 29'er, WTB rims).

Can't say that about RoRo's by a long shot. Buy a light tire, live with fragile sidewalls.
Old enough to know better. And old enough not to care. Best age to be.

Probably not til I wear the 2.0 out. I'm happy enough with this setup to stick with it for a while...

Yeah that's what I ment, do you think you'll try the bigger one next. Any reason you didn't get another Wolv for the back? I'm thinking of throwing my set on to get some more cush.

Any experience with Wolverines? Can't remember if you ran them.

Yep, I ran Wolverines front and rear all last summer and the last half of the season before. Good tires. The back one was pretty worn last fall and I bought one new one, intending to put it up front and move the front one to the back to replace the worn out rear, but the front one was pretty ragged looking once I got a good look at it, so I picked up the Geax to put on back with the new Wolverine up front. I like the Saguaro on the back-have it on my SS 29'er, and it's good on the 650b Curtlo too. I might try the 2.2 when the 2.0 dies or something else entirely. Fun to experiment with new tires, eh?

Yeah, and it's not just a 27.5 tire size thing either! I've got a fairly new set of 650 CrossMarks on my HT that are working ok, and a Wolv fr/2.1 Neo on rr of my Bastardo now. The Neo's about done thinking to move Wolv in back. I may put my 2.35 Nev back on up front that's still in good shape. I have a fresh set of Wolvs I was thinking to try on the HT at somepoint.
