    GASP!!!! I think I'm turning into a retro grouch!

    Hi, my name is TheSchwagman, and I am a techaholic.

    I've been following this wheel size for longer than I can remember. I was at Sea Otter last year when it truly broke out. I got the fever. Rode demos. Bought rims & new hubs for the build up. Now, as I get closer to buying a frame, the curmudgeon is coming out. "Will I really be faster, smoother, better, have more fun with this than 26?" Plus, I have sick wheels (EX1750), a sh!t-ton of 26" tires and tubes, and a non-650B-compatible fork which is nowhere near worn out.

    So the heretofore ne'er seen retro grouch is screaming to get out (and stay 26").

    I think I need counseling...

    Who am I kidding? I can't not be a tech-weenie. 27.5 is still on my want list.

    Keep both. And then a 29'er for good measure. Ride all 3 on successive rides over familiar trails, and with your retrogrouch experience of what? 20 years riding, you will experience and get to feel first hand how the different wheels perform on the same terrain. You will be a guru on the subject.

    Don't forget to control for geometry, suspension, tire tread, tire pressure, etc,so you won't nit picked to death when you report on the wheels.

    Bucket list for me: own decent to outstanding bikes in all 3 wheel sizes and live somewhere where there is enough variety of terrain for each to have the chance to excel.

    Observation: you know you are getting old when you begin to compile a bucket list.

    Retrogrouch prayer:

    Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the 26'er I have ,
    The courage to demo
    Bikes with 27.5" and 29" wheels;
    And the wisdom to know the difference.
