    effective tire width?

I have an '89 rockhopper that I think I can fit 2.0 quasi moto with some luck. I have a 2.1 on the bike now and the width is a bit closer to 55ish cm. However, if I go with the 2.0's, they'll need to be right on the 50mm mark for mud clearance. I guess I'm asking if someone else has tried this and failed, or,if someone can get a rough measurement of the width of the tire as well as the diameter on the wheel. If someone can tell me I'm retarded for wanting to try this, it'll save me lots some money.

    nice compilation....

That is a great spreadsheet- thanks. I have Fatty Rumpkins with Synergy rims that I throw on the bike for commuting (sometimes) and I think there is about 10mm on each side. I'll check it out again tonight and have a better idea. Hope it works- it'll save me some money....
