    Carver 420 as 650b/27.5

I know some have asked about it before.

The bike was originally set up with 29" wheels and a 140mm fork. I wanted to give 650b's a try, Carvers says the frame is compatible... I thought I'd go ahead and try it.

Finished the build this morning. The bottom bracket is sitting at 11.93"

Trail riding to commence this weekend. I plan on giving this whole thing a month or two to see if I dig the smaller wheels for rigid single speeding.

Very interested to hear your thoughts on the handling and the comfort of the Ti bike with the smaller wheels. The bike looks great and ought to have loads of clearance for mud. Could be a great endurance or bike packing SS.

That stat proves to me that a frame built for 29" wheels is not REALLY convertible to 27.5. I don't see how you could get a full pedal revolution on any terrain that wasn't baby butt smooth with such a low bb.

    Hope it works out
Old enough to know better. And old enough not to care. Best age to be.

I'm only running a 470mm A-C fork.... that's short even for a sagged 650b fork. Also, without the squishing, the BB height won't dip and dive.

    I like 12-12.25" high BB's. .07" ain't gonna kill me (I hope).
