    Cannondale Scalpel 2012 - 650b

    Hello,

I know, 650b fits in the 2011 Frame.

Does anybody know if a 650b Wheelset will fit in the rear of a 2012 model also?
Is the 2012 Frame exactly the same as 2011 only with new paintings and different components?

Thanks in Advance for an answer!

We know it fits the 2011. If the 2012 is the same, then it does. To find this out you should ask in the Cannondale sub forum, they are more likely to know this.

I have replied to one thread on the Cdale site & started another related to this topic with no dice. Just want to be privy to replies on this thread. Looking into the closeout 2012 Scalpel 3 & running 650. Seen pics of the Ultimate & rear looks real tight, but doable.

    Thanks for answers.

I started a new Thread in the CD sub-forum - meanwhile, there are perhaps some who have already tried....

I'm pretty sure I've seen one on this forum? Someone should show up soon and let you know if it works.

alright i couldnt see you people suffer, knowing i could help out.

i just went out into my shop and pulled off the racing ralph/stans crest 650B rear wheel from my wifes 2011 Scalpel 1 SMALL and stuck it into my 2012 Scalpel 2 MEDIUM frameset that i am building up.

It clears exactly the same as it does in her frame, which is JUST FINE

Is the clearance pretty tight, or ample?

Chainstay, seat tube clearance is plenty.

Is tight at the seat stay bridge, but keep in mind racing ralphs are the biggest of the 650's
    1/4" or a little less

    Travel Reducer?

With 650b installed do you need reduce the travel in the 100mm Lefty for clearance?

    I've checked that also.
With the air out of the fork, compressed you have about a half inch of clearance to the bottom of the steer tube.

    Good job! Itīs done!

    Hello,
Finally itīs done! My wheels came this past weekend, i got the ZTR Crest and Racing Ralph 2.25 set, itīs the easiest one we can find here.
Only made 10 km, but the first impressions are very positive.
Climbing and descending felt very confy, smooth and fast. For now itīs all i can say. Have to make more km and harder trails.
Soon i will let the photos.

I don't want to over populate the forum with too many of my same posts, but I am very grateful for all the help I received from here, if it was not for these threads I would not have dared to try build my bike.

Thanks for the help, here is what I came up with:

    Attachment 772151

    Attachment 772152

    Attachment 772153

    2012 Cannondale Scalpel 2
Stan NoTubes ZTR Crest 650b Wheels
    Maxxis Ardent 2.25 - Crossmark 2.1
    SRAM XX1 Groupset
    21lbs

I am not a huge fan of 29er, but the racer in me knew I needed bigger wheels, so this is a prefect fit and XX1 just topped it off perfectly.

--I hope that this will also encourage you to try it out too, I know you will love it.
