Best Full Suspension 650b for around $3k

I know this is still an emerging market but what is the best full squish for around $3k. It seems like all the full suspension 650b's have like 150 mm of travel. Way more than I would ever need. Anyone have any suggestions?

Best for what? There is not a single bike that is best at/for everything. In your price range, I would take a look at this Norco: http://forums.mtbr.com/650b-27-5/nor...ke-846460.html

I ride a Stumpjumper now. I guess that is the "trail" category between XC and AM. I want a bike beefier than an XC race rig but don't need 150 mm of travel.

You can run a 650b on the front of your current bike if your fork is compatible (or by swapping forks) and get most of the benefit of 650b.

If you absolutely must have the same size front and rear wheels, beg borrow or steal a 650b rear wheel to check the tire clearance, if i recall correctly quite a few specialized models have more than adequate clearance.

why wait?! use what you've got.

Oops I meant the Norco Sight Killer B, not the Range. The Sight is a 140mm trail machine. The B3 build is competent and fairly inexpensive.

I just got a rocky mountain altitude 730 a few weeks ago , great bike. the only weekness I've found is in the"ride9" desend position the forward shock mount blocks the schrader valve making it a pain to set the sag. I like the climb position better anyway so it doesn't bother me.

KHS 2500, 3500, 5500, 6500 would be good choices for the money. 2500/3500 have 120mm travel and the 5500/6500 have 140mm travel.

You can even mail order them from Adrenaline Bikes (even frame only)

Giant is rumored to launching 650b next week in Australia and scott is on board with more 650b for the coming year, so if you dont need one right now i'd be waiting a few months to see whats coming out.

Personally im hoping that one or 2 of the bigger boys will help drive the price down. 650B seems very over priced as a segment at the moment imo.

Yeah, I wanted a 650b a while ago but am still waiting for more of a selection. Sticking to my 29er for now but if I can find something I like I will sell my old rig.
