    Ardent sizing ?

I have used a 2.3 Neo-moto, Nevegal 2.35 & Wolverine 2.2. Looking @ the Ardent 2.25 but need to know how the volume compares to both the Neo-moto and Nevegal ? I can't fit more than a Nevagal in the rear. Thanks.

Nev fits but not Wolv? Guess that says alot for the volume of the WTB's.
Wait, who did he tell you that?....

The Ardent is definitely higher volume and therefore taller than Nev 2.35. Running one on the back of my Carbine and there is enough room, but just put a hole in the casing between knobs after about 50 miles; EXO casing. I like the traction and volume compared to the Neo Moto, but casing seems to be just as weak out here in the land of "every thing is sharp."

This post from the "fattest 650b tire" thread has your answer:

I didn,t ask for a comparison on the WTB because I never used that tire on my current frame. It is definitely a large 2.2 probably more in line w/ a Nevegal 2.35.

What the.....? Your post said you've used all 3 including the Wolv and that only the Nev fit. I was merely commenting. By the looks of the Ardent's I've seen it's probably as big as the Nev 2.35 and Wolv.

C'mon dude you've been on here long enough to know to post more of the paticulars when asking for a specific answer, such as on which bike, which rim etc......

After all, this is an open forum.

Ok i'll expand on my post to clarify. All three tires will fit my 2010 Trek Remeedy. The Nevegal is the largest tire of the 3. The Neo-moto being the smallest. The Wolverine falls between the two so I omitted that. The Wolverine doesn't seem to be as popular as well. A Neo-moto fits perfectly, a Nevegal is pushing the few mm clearance range. I included a couple tires for comparison if an Ardent owner has compared any of the listed tires. It would be really helpful if tire manufactures (ANY SIZE TIRES) give a volume index or something to give sizing details. I have a 29" Bontranger XDX 2.1 that has as much volume or more than most 2.3-2.4 tires.

Read much? The tire diameters are right there in post number #65. The Ardent is measured taller than the Nevegal.

I just mounted one up and made some measurements, along with a bunch of other tire/rim combos I accumulated recently. Here's what I have so far (last pair of numbers in each row are my measurements, in inches, all made at 30psi):

Maxxis Ardent EXO 27.5x2.25, Flow EX: 27.88x2.29
Kenda Nevegal 27.5x2.35, Flow EX: 27.75x2.43
Pacenti NeoMoto 27.5x2.1, Flow EX: 27.63x2.21
Pacenti NeoMoto 27.5x2.3, Flow EX: 27.56x2.41
Kenda Nevegal DTC, 27.5x2.1, Crest: 27.53x2.24

    Yeah, comprehensively sometimes too.....

Your link puts you mid way thru a thread page 3-post labeled #1, not on the post with the tire list. And as I am aware and checked in on that list over time for updates, it clearly shows the Ardent taller, tho not as wide as the Nevegal, adding to tighter fitting setup. And my mentioning of the Wolv was based on having one and a 2.35 Nev, was that it(Wolv) was a tad bit taller, seemingly close to the same as the Ardent overall ht. Keen didn't make mention of where his clearance issues were with either at the side or bridge stays either.

I'll throw you the C'mon - Bontranger doesn't make a 650b. Most 650b users know the current crop of tires & can count them on their digits. I edited my post so it should be clear...

C'mon. Snap.....I knew that they didn't, just throw'n some humor into it.

So if the Ardent doesn't fit, what other were you thinking? What about the Conty X-King? There's usually pretty good volume in their tyres.
