    Another HDR140 vs Solo C

LOVE the DW platform since i ride an 26 HD 160

But want a bike thats round 25lbs rather than 30

I know the Solo C 25 lbs is almost normal with an XT kit but never ridden an VPP2 platform..

I'll be running XO on the bike and Novatec wheels schwalbe tires.

I really love my Ibis but if the HD 140 weighs round 28-29 i might as well keep my HD 160.

Weight is an issue since i do alot of climbing now (4000ft +) and my 30lb HD, eventho it climbs well, just isnt really meant for that and im getting too old

So i guess what im asking is any peeps out there with the 650HDR what are your bike weights?

    Thanks much!

If you are considering both at 125-130 mm travel - as they're designed for 27.5" wheel- you may want to look at the Flux from Turner. It's 120 mm travel though and not carbon but may suit your love to DW.
FWIW with dual travel design HDR may not be as light as Solo C or Flux with the same built.

If you love your HD & love how a DW bike rides then IMO I'd really recommend the HDR.

I rode VPP/VPP2 for years before going to DW and while the VPP stuff has always been good, for my type of "do it all" riding DW has always been a consistently better ride, particularly for climbs. Put it this way, when I've spent all day in the saddle and I'm clawing up a tech climb, I really appreciate the DW rear, and really don't love the VPP.

As for weight, an XT/XO1 HDR is feel a good deal lighter then your current HD.

Compare apples to apples. If a solo is 25 lbs with an xt kit, the HDR will be 26 with the same kit. Solo is right at 5lbs frame, HDR is a 6lb frame. Any other weight differences in a build will come from heavier parts.

    fyi,
I just build up a medium 650 hdr, float 140, i-9 wheels, xx1 and other assorted light bits. The bike weighs 28 lbs on the nose. I suppose I could drop a quarter pound or so with wimpier tires, but that's it.
