    675 Bike Conversion

I have a couple of Giant Ranker bikes for the wife and I that I really like and have had for years. I have upgraded them over time into some very snappy fun trail bikes. They were origionally setup with 100mm forks. My idea is to build up some 27.5 front wheels with fox 80mm 26 forks. I am thinking this will keep the geometry close to stock and add a little rollover goodness. Any experianced converters think would be a bad idea?

If the bikes are designed for 100mm forks, don't run an 80. With the higher BB from the wheel, and increasing the HA by the shorter travel, it may be funky geo. Try them with the 650 wheel first before spending the $$ on the forks. Providing the ones that are on them can run 650.

I don't think you're in danger of simultaneously raising the bb and steepening the head tube angle, since you're just going 650b up front. I converted my Ventana ciclon to "675" with a 15mm shorter axle-to-crown fork, and have been very happy with the results.

Thanks for the replies the f80 has a 20mm shorter axle to crown. My thinking was the geometry world stay the same. No?
