650b/29er can you used the same innertube?
I'm sorry if this had been asked before but....

Can you use a 29er innertube on a 650b wheel? I was thinking if you had a bike with 650b rear and 29er front wheels then could you get away with carrying only one size of spare innertube on a ride?

I use ultralite performance 26" tubes in 29ers , ever pump a light 26" tube to check for a pinhole? It has no problem getting big. Added advantage is cheaper and lighter. 130g vs. 220g .

I use 26" tubes on my 29er as well. You should have no issues.

I imagine its better to put a 26" or 650b tube in a 29" tire, than stuffing a 29 tube into a smaller wheel. Id bring along either a 26" or 650b tube, to work for either wheel.

I also use 26" tubes in my 650b. Even with 2.3 tires it's more then enough.

What are these 'tubes' that you ancient ones speak of?

Well thanks gang! This is most surprising and welcome news. For the last year I've been conscientiously swapping the spare tubes in my camelbak - depending on whether i'm riding the Flux or the El-Mariachi. I've got tubeless setup on the Salsa at the moment but next time I have to remove the a tyre, I'll try one of my 26" tubes. Does anyone know if the Specialized 1.75-2.25 tubes will work like this?

    Blimey - I've just realised I don't own a 650b bike yet - I'm gonna kicked of this board I'm I don't get one soon - any ideas LOL

I run 29" tubes in my 36" Mountain Unicycle so I am sure you will be fine ;)
