    650b with 29 front wheel

Anyone done it? Im looking for a new all mountain FS. I know I dont want another 26er. Im pretty sure I dont want a 29er. I might want a 650b bike but I really like that big 29" wheel.

Dave of Dave's Wheels runs a 29/27.5 combo on his Santa Cruz TR + Lefty fork and he likes the setup. The Lefty seems great to experiment with due to the ease of adjustment, no worries about clearance, and you wouldn't be stuck with a fork you couldn't use. Great guy - give him a call, he's been riding 29/27.5 for awhile now.

Ventana is building a Capitan Zeus for me with 29 front and 27.5 rear...basically an el cap front with 150 pike fork and Zeus rear with 140/160 adjustable travel. Chainstays are gonna be nice n short.

Heard another guy on the ventana forum got a modified alpino with 29 front and 27.5 rear with 120/140 rear, if you don't want as much travel.

I'll let u know how she rides when I get the frame, hopefully in a week or two...ventana is AMAZING to work with an really ends up being comparable to cheaper to do a semi custom frame with them than off the shelf stuff from big brands...

    650b with 29 front wheel

Let me know how you like it. I'm a big fan of ventana bikes though I've never owned one I've always wanted a el chucho or a Zeus.

I'm going to try and contact Dave about the Santa Cruz see how he likes it. I think my next bike is going to have to be a 29/27.5 or 97.5er?

I would be inclined to believe not seeing the industry embracing a 27.5 x 29er for production like the 26 x 29er fiasco.but for a small niche of riders it may be all that and easy enough to convert.

It is kind of funny that the 69er concept never took hold. It really does seem to make a lot of sense.

I have been talking about doing a 9erB ever since I started riding my B26er a couple of years ago, but unfortunately, all the 27.5 bikes I have looked at converting, look like they'll become too slack (for me), when adding a 29er on front.

By comparing Fox AtoC it looks to add around 35 mm to the front, with the wheel. I'm not sure I would enjoy slacker than a 68 HA on the trails around here. I currently ride a B26er AnthemX, with a 120mm fork, and love it (not sure what the HA is?)... so was thinking of converting the 27.5 AnthemX coming out now, but it has a 69.5 HA to start with... and a 73 SA....

    Seems like a pricey gamble...

Another Trek Remedy here. 13.6 BB height w/ a 66 degree HA. I prefer slack bikes and have noticed the longer travel 29er's getting slacker though 66* might be too much for most 29er riders .

Broke a couple of alu nips off of my rear wheel. The only extra wheel I have is a DT 240/ TL28 with a 2.25 RaRa. I've been riding it this way for about a month now and honestly can't tell a difference on the trail other than it feels lower now which I like. I had to lower the stem 15mm and raise the saddle a little. Good bike but would be much better if you could run an angleset to slacken it out a bit. I do not know why a bike company would put an integrated headset on a mtn bike.

Been on a longer travel FS B9er for a year. Love it.

Thinking about a custom Ventana or Lenz, but most likely next AM bike will be a full 650b.

For where I ride, B9er has been on my mind for some time now. Just need to figure the best 29er for the conversion.

Personally I'd run a 29" front on a 26 or 650b frame. Running a 29" frame will mean long chain stays & a low BB height. 650b frame would be ideal because you would have proper rear tire clearance and would have to deal only w/ the taller front end / travel reduction.

I was thinking there's a real good 29er out there, numbers wise. Higher BB, shorter CS.

I'm trippin'...my front tire is a hair under 28" anyway. Hello!
