    27.5 pike compatability

Future proofing a fork purchase!? Thinking about putting a 27.5 160mm pike on my pivot mach 5.7 26" frame, is it easy to put a spacer in making them 150mm and still run 26" wheels? Or will it make a raked out head angle and get all complicated?? Is anyone buying 26" forks anymore?!?

Can't swap them out very easily. The damper is different for each travel fork. There's a few people that have done it, but it also sounds like its not reversible.

I guess if I got the 150mm it would be all good

Why not just put the 160mm 27.5 on your Pivot? It will only slacken your head angle approx 0.5 degrees I believe. If you hate it you still have the option of dropping in a 150mm damper cartridge.

I'm in the same boat. Thinking of getting the 150 to run on an HDR in 160/26 mode and rbuilding my wheels with 27.5 rims once ibis does a 150 mm shock version.

The damper is the same for all Pikes. To change to a different travel you only need to swap the air spring shaft which is about $40. You can even lower it to 140mm.

Your thinking is sound, Miggy. The 650b Pike has a relatively short 42mm offset, which works well with the wheel size and angles your bike was designed around. You will be slackening things out a bit so stay with the 150mm. It will be about the same as putting a 160mm/26" fork on.

Do you have any more details on that? I've only seen the 140mm kit for the 29'er, can you just cut down the air spring shaft, or maybe use the 29'er 140mm shaft? I would like to have a 27.5 Pike at 140mm for the same application, a Pivot 5.7, I figure a 27.5 at 140mm should be about the same geometry as the 150mm fork with a 26" wheel. I'd prefer not to go slacker, but would like the stiffer chassis and better damping of the pike relative to a Revelation at 140mm. It's only about a 100gram weight penalty, no big deal.
