    I should hate this bike...

...wrong wheel size, too many gears, no dropper post, etc. Yet somehow, against all odds, I still manage to smile on every ride!

That size L NRS frame looks waaaaaay to big, if thats where the rider has to run the seatpost height for the correct leg extention. Looks like a size Small would be more appropriate.

Nice! Where and what trail may I ask has a bike rack like that? That area looks very familiar to my area of northern Colorado. Loveland / Fort Collins.

Here's a makeshift bike rack at my local trail. Still rocking a 2002' Intense UZZI-SL since new. Many hard miles and still going strong.

Unfortunately it is not the front range. It's a bike park called Two Rivers located just outside Springfield, MO which is in SW Missouri. My wife and I did get to your neck of the woods last May on our honeymoon. Here's a handful of pics from a trail head and lunch break while we were riding in Fort Collins. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the trail?...All the same...we loved it there, hoping to move that way in the next few years.

    Cheers!

    Heckler 6.1

    BUCK THIS:

    Frame: aluminum, not carbon.
Suspension: single pivot, not multiple short links.
Fork: not a Fox, not a Rockshox; no travel adjust; metal sprung, not air.
Shock: no lockout or climb/descend modes; metal sprung, not air.
Wheels: 26", duh that's why it's in this thread.
Wheels: 32 spoke 3x w/ alu rimsand j bend spokes, not the flava of the month brand____proprietary scheit.
    Drivetrain: 2X + bashguard, not 1X w/ clutch.
    Seatpost: solid, not dropper.

ima bad mutha bucka yup yup yup

and i lllluuuuvvvvv my mutha buckin' bike, yo!

(but then, iffin' i had mo $$$, i'd be rockin' an all carbon trendy whip fo sho! so buck me an' my thin a.s.s wallet!!!)

No school like old school right? Needs a fork upgrade, but those old Avid 2.0s on the back & XTRs on the front work well enough to get me in (and out of) trouble. XT & XTR thought, Thompson, etc. About 23#. 2001?
Today was my first day on the trail (2nd ride at ALL) in 3 yrs. Man it felt good!

First post! Just picked up this 1999 Gary Fisher Big Sur for $40 large on CL. Pic from her maiden voyage, and it was a blast!

Just picked this up from CL last week. 1988 MB1 all original down to the tires, except for the saddle. Plan on using it as my xc oriented rig. Very efficient and rides super nice with Tange Pretige Cro-mo tubing. Will need to get new tires so I don't want to wear out those classic shoes and a new saddle as the one it came with is no good for long rides.

And here is my everyday ride a 1991 trek 970 singletrack with some beefy tires. Been adding up the miles on her since the early 90's.

This is my prid and joy which i still refuse to get rid, cost me £1800 in 1999 and still ride it today. beautifull bike it just rides perfeck, but i must admit i do like the new Full carbon bouncers, but could never part with 5 grand for one.
Just converted the drive to the 2-9, decided to loose the large chain ring as never needed it.

    2012 5 Spot

The second 5 Spot for me and still riding it. I've changed the bars and stem since this pic was taken to keep up with current 'fashion.'

Still loving my '06 Prophet 1000. I've swapped a few things out from the original: New Lefty PBR, rear wheel, rear brakes, shifters, several rear tires (still the original front, somehow...)

    trust the tread

the seat tube, it's a pull-shock, there is a rod that goes through the center tube, to the top of the air can (I believe...)

Can't measure right now because I'm at home and my bike is hanging at the office... but can work it out pretty close... Since that pic was taken I have put Deity dirty 30 handlebars on... 760mm total... the ally bar ends have a pretty narrow mounting ring... about 15mm each...so space between is approx 730mm...

Still plenty wide enough for me ...and I'm not giving up my bar ends for anything

That's even less than the 680 bars I had on in that pic... they still had 26" between the bar ends...19 must have been twitchy as anything ...

Lol... In high school I used to MTB an old steel roadbike with drop bars (I did put knobbly tyres on it)... that makes me twitch when I think back...I collected every old fork I could get my hands on, and every time I bent one I'd just drop it out and put another in That thing only had a 17" total bar width... used to take it to the local BMX track as well...

the configurations of "mtn. bikes" we rode during the early years, it's hard to believe enough of us survived to keep the industry going. it seems more likely to have been sued out of existence

Lol...I'll never forget when I got my first real MTB...a rigid chromoly Diamondback with forks that were the same thickness the whole way down...it was like man, this thing is indestructible!
The irony is I've hurt myself more in the last 12 months since getting back into the sport than I ever did back then

I remember running 540mm bars with bar ends on an old XC bike back in the day. Looking back, what was I thinking? So happy that the industry has caught up with what we really need.

    Updated 8/19/15

    Life goes on.

I gave the 26" Trance away in June when I bought a 27.5" SC 5010.
I still have a 26" IF Deluxe steel hardtail I use on rail trails and such.

Here's me with it. I just rode it for the first time since last year because I had to replace the swing arm. It's a 2000 Cannondale SuperV700SX with a SuperV SL arm on it.

    Eating my words here

A near dislocated left shoulder and 3 bruised fingers on my right hand have convinced me that 760mm bars are too wide for bar ends where I ride

I still miss them on the climbs though

The custom front triangle is five years old and rear nine years old. But it has "modern geometry" with a 24" TT, 66.5 HA, 73.5 SA and a 13' BB. I had it built for Super D racing before that became Enduro racing.
