    Hubs...Sun Ringle vs Hope

Im building a jekyll carbon 1...things of life, this frame arrived to my hands...

I have some blck flag pro (24 spoke) wheels with sun ringle hubs, but the freehub is for shimano and I need a XD free hub

    Here goes the question.

Option 1: buy the sunrigle XD compatible freehub...this is about USD 100

Option 2: buy a Hope pro 4 24h hub, found one for about USD 199

    Question...what would you do?
The Hope hub & new is worth those extra 99?

    Opinions?

    THANKS!!!

How much is a Shimano cassette....are you willing to even consider changing the drive train?

If not, I buy the XD body.

I already have the Sram transmision...
And...also have sram on my other bike.. I would not like to mix transmision components...I rather like the same in both

Go with Hope. The Sun Ringle will eventually fail. Speaking from experience

    Hope, no question.

But really I'd just get a different cassette. Your derailleur will work fine with a Sram or Shimano cassette, it's 100% compatible. The ONLY difference is the mounting system. There's no reason not to use a different cassette with your existing hub.

Stop asking how much it weighs and just go ride it.

I already have 3 XG1150 cassettes.... buying another cassette....I rather like to have same brand components in both bikes...or as much as I can..

Its a 26, everything is dirt cheap. I wouldnt mess around with old sun 24h wheels.

Id pickup a nice set of 32h wheels. Hopes are great, but theres so many good hubs out there these days. Really go for anything but 24h sun hubs!

    It is a nice idea!
Any suggestion? I have realized that I don't know about wheels...

It's good that you realize this and can admit to it. Some people think they know about wheels and end up buying Crank Brothers. Don't be that guy.

Between this advice and selling the crossmarks, OP's life is improving.

My recommendation would be that if you're going to throw a bunch of money at it, make sure it's not missing any spokes the next time around.

Still think Onespeeds suggestion is the best. IIRC, an XT cassette is like sixty bucks.
You'll still have a crappy wheel, but at least you can ruin it and buy some time to find a decent replacement.
